Buying used 2014 Greenline query Dual mass flywheel

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've just joined the Skoda Superb family by buying a used 2014 Skoda Superb 1.6 Elegance Greenline Estate.

When I was talking to the seller I asked him if he had changed the Dual Mass Flywheel, as he said he had changed the clutch last year, and he said it was a single mass flywheel so didn't need to change it. So did some, or all, 1.6CR greenline superb engines use single mass flywheels? Or is he just wrong? Or maybe he or the previous owner did a conversion? Is there any way to check without dismantling?

Thanks

IIRC the 1.6 got a single mass flywheel.

Thanks. When I was researching I thought all skoda tdi diesel engines had dual mass flywheels. Looks like I was wrong.

Can anyone else confirm or deny please?

5 speed pre-FL Superb 2 has single mass flywheel

6-speed FL Superb 2 has dual-mass flywheel

This applies ONLY 1.6 TDI Greenline models!

But isn't a 2014 a facelift model? - my 2014 1.4tsi is.

Yes, mine is the facelift model

Looking up the part number listed here suggests that it's still a single mass for 2014:

I've no idea then. Guess I'll just have to wait and see when i next go to a mechanic

Its a lot less reliable because its a complex piece of kit

When they fail they fail.

If clutch has been  replaced I would take it off your worry list

No mechanic is going to replace a clutch on a soon to fail DMF its just not worth the hassle

So either its been done or yours is a single mass

Also if it does go its only money😁

No decent mechanic is going to replace a clutch without replacing a failing flywheel!
