Diagnosis problems

Featured Replies

Hello I recently bought a car 2.0 Octavia vrs and it loses power now and again code stored was u140600 current too high been to garage and said live data showing 14.4 at car 15.1 at battery suspecting alternator or battery also stop start playing up works now and again also suggested wiring issues between car and gearbox any help appreciated thanks battery was 096 agm replaced recently maybe a coding issue with battery garage struggling to diagnose

Yes the batteries will need coding in when changed these days.

Wrong coding and the poor car might supply too much or too little power.

I’ll start looking into coding battery at garage I was thinking my luck would be dsg gearbox

Fingers crossed it is not, but you cannot just slap in a battery these days.  The car needs to be made aware and to compensate for possible differences in Ah/battery type.

Not had a battery for ages, but I think they have a barcode on top, I am sure a battery expert will be along soon to comment.

Thanks why do they make things so complicated now last Skoda was on 306000 miles no problems with it 2010 plate taxi

If I remember correctly, I think U140600 is normally due to something consuming power when the car is turned off - normally like a dashcam or charger left plugged in.

It might be worth finding a garage with some better diagnostic equipment as I doubt that code is related to your issues...

Batteries should be coded after fitting as the car does various clever stuff to making charging more efficient. The coding is mostly to reset any learnt values to make sure it can be fully charged and the capacity is correct.

Like a parasitic drain or something I’ve only had car a week I got a warranty for 30 days as it’s going as a taxi I’ll do some checks and try to figure out what it is also there’s a diagnostics guru that lives not far from me he does all kinds of stuff £50 a hour though garage I go to has a auto electrician that goes there every Monday I’ll see what he says thanks

You can check the stop start status in the infotainment system. It'll show you the reason it is not working.

Exactly...

It might be an historic fault. I'd be tempted to find a VCDS user as that tends to give good info regarding fault codes :)

There is a list and map in the VCDS section 👍

After selecting Car, there should be the start/stop info symbol on the screen, select that.
