Skoda superb mk2 2010 dsg estate 2.0 tdi

Featured Replies

Hi, I’m brand new to this website so unsure if I’m in the right place or not!

I’m thinking of buying this Skoda, ( https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202206206958008

I know it’s over priced given the way the market is but do you think it’s a bad decision paying that much for a 12 year old car? I need a diesel and the boot space & love the interior etc.

Anything I should look out for? No mention of water pump and cam belt so would look to get that cost taken off the price

thanks!

That is quite a low mileage.

Even though the DSG oil change is @ 40,000 miles i hope it has had one by now even though it has not reached 40,000 miles.

The History of the Servicing is rather important.

You need to budget for doing fluids, brake, coolant DSG, and Water Pump.

Are the tyres OK, matching, brakes looking OK, windscreen not chipped or tiny tiny chips?

Those that gave Good Reviews were happy.

Those that did not were not.

Hi Roottoot, it’s the lowest on the market I can find for my budget. I would expect the dsg to of been serviced at least once if not twice, I haven’t made contact with the seller as of yet so can’t answer the questions I’m afraid & I live 250 miles from the vehicle so can’t just pop down to look & drive.

im looking to make contact with them soon, just wasn’t sure if it’s worth a gamble or not given it’s age as it is a lot of money for me at least and it is 12yo.

have you any experience with these model/ year dsg? Anything to look out for? I’m a skoda newbie so very unsure on what year/models have issues, I’ve read that the 7 speed wet clutch can have issues due to the changing of the oil but believe this is 6 & dry (?).

thanks

It is a 6 speed wet clutch DQ250.

No 2.0 TSI or TDI,s got DQ200 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG's that do not need oil changes.

I would want this DQ250 DSG to have been serviced, Even if Full Main Dealer Servicing was done over 12 years unlikely they would do it unless the owner asked for it to be done.

Ah my bad I got mixed up, so the 6 speed wet is the one that is not known to have issues?

I’ve read the reviews online, a little alarming but there are good ones also.  if I was pursue the vehicle I think I’d arrange a pre purchase inspection with rac or aa to check it over due to the distance from me

It's the 170 engine, so won't have the oil pump drive shaft issues of the earlier 2.0 140 BSS engine, but I mention it just in case you look at other similar cars as well.  The hex shaft wears and fails, often catastrophically.  Worth being aware of.

Thanks Gaz. Is it a big of a job to replace this prior to it failing? Cheers

It's a significant job, but there are 'fixes' including a longer shaft, updated pumps and drives.  General consensus is the 2.0 140 BSS engine is a lemon, best avoided.

Some homework would serve you in good stead. IIRC there's a fairly comprehensive thread over on audi-sport.net (and some on here). Several cars across the VAG range were affected.

EDIT: found the one I was thinking of:
