New xenon’s look purply/red?

Featured Replies

Not sure how well it can be seen but I replaced the bulbs as they were getting pretty purple.
After installing new xenons I noticed they looked a bit redish or a hint of purple or something either way, these are 4300k like stock, did I get a bad batch or what?

Another odd thing is that I see the colour with this tinge of purply red colour but when I try to get my camera to see it, it shows up as yellow? Maybe I’m colour blind? Lol 😂

It's highly unlikely your camera will pickup the correct colours... no substitute for the human eye.

Can you tell us what bulbs you brought?

They could be fake, sadly there is a market out there for them.

The little salts in the bottom of each bulb capsule may also need shaking about to mix a little, just by driving around, you may then find the colours blend a little better.

Thanks. I’ve had them for a while and I thought it would get better but it hasn’t that’s why I decided to post this.
I didn’t buy OSRAMs though. Unbranded, the seller (I bought from them in person as well not off an eBay seller or something) said it comes from the same factory as OSRAM however true or false that may be lol.

Most eBay seller claims are to be taken with a pinch of salt.

As you say they now have been used for a while, so odds are they are going to remain that colour/pattern forever.

Something you need to live with, or purchase another set... if you do manage to pickup a nice genuine set, then your light output will probably be better with a more linear spread (no weird colour blotches)

Yeah... I pulled them out and put in LEDs, granted I think they have slightly less light output but I just cannot have it look like this, my brain will not let me lol

Fingers crossed you're not blinding people 😎
