No backlight on instrument cluster and all nobs and switches in cockpit.

Featured Replies

Hello guys. So as title say I have a problem with skodas cockpit lights. I was replaceing front door speakers with my father with success and after that all the backlight lights stoped working (instrument cluster, nobs switches) everything works fine butt there is no back light. Did anybody had similar problem.

Start with the fuses and next time remember to disco the battery negative before playing silly buggers with the electrics.

None of the fuses were fried. Even checked with multimeter to avoid micro breaks of the fuses.

Grab a spare dimmer thumbwheel bit from a scrappy. I think there's some electronics behind it that may have failed.

Edit: that's after checking that it hasn't just got knocked round to a very dim setting!

We had to replace passanger door window lifting switch because it was worn out. After that I have taken said switch apart to see which connection is which. I have found that there is no 12V present on the connector where the led is connected. Now I have found wiring diagrams for said skoda and with quick glance over found that connection 58b is present through out all nob, switch and or interior light. Could it be that the 12V wire got burnt on crimp inside connector where it supplys 12V to lights in cockpit and on the instrument cluster. @Breezy_Pete you speak of the black long plastic thingy right next right lcd display on instrument cluster.

No, the adjuster for the backlighting brightness, near the exterior lighting switch.

When I bought my car I thought the lighting had failed but then I found the thumb-wheel mentioned above.

There is none in my car.

Where does the wiring diagram you are looking at show as the origin of the 58b power rail? I guess the light switch?

If so see if it is is present there when the switch is on, then keep following it to wherever it goes next.

The number-plate lights on the rear of the car may be powered from the same fuse, so see if they work or not.
