So I recently had this problem with the engine light "system too rich bank 1" anyway I fixed that on the 4th of February and it was a loose pipe in the engine.

 

At the same time I also had my fuel filter changed.

The EPC light came on after that and now it will not disappear.

 

The car works and drives perfectly fine with no visible faults.

 

Anyone know what to do in this situation?

You need to read the diagnostic codes and tell us what they are, also what engine you have.

Hi, Fabia MK1 1.2 HTP 68BHP from 2005.

 

I havent got to the diagnostic yet as my reader cant read the EPC fault lights, only engine 😞

UPDATE!

 

On 5th of january 2020 driving on the M11 motorway. The car lost power and stalled At 70mph.

 

Managed to get over to the hard shoulder.

 

"Cylinder 1 misfire"

 

So went and got new BOSH coils.

Well so far both engine and EPC lights are off.

 

So I'm guessing The EPC was for the Fault with Coils?

Yes, you've fixed it.

Did you check the spark plugs' condition before replacing coilpacks? You should always do so.

 

Have you checked your brake lights are working correctly?

Have you checked the brake servo vacuum hose for cracks/leaks at the joins?

Both of these problems can result in an EPC light, but I wouldn't expect a failed coilpack to trigger EPC, but the emissions light instead.

 

And as far as I understand the EPC light is triggered by the engine ECU and fault codes logged there, so your reader that only covers engine should have read the cause?

 

Which pipe was found loose on 4th Feb?

I think the EPC light flickers during a misfire then latches on so I would expect the code to be for a misfire, Winos point about worn out spark plugs is well made although plug changes are part of the service schedule so really shouldn't be neglected.

You'd be surprised to find that EPC comes on also if you don't have any brake bulbs working .. (starting from the fuse, continuing with the brake switch...and all the way to the back of the car, where the bulbs are).

I have been witht this epc light issue for quite a long time. I have changed spark plugs checked vaccum leaks and even chanhed o2 sensor as shown from the torque app using a elm bluetooth obd adapter. But still I am having thus epc light randomly when the light glows engine power get cuts intermittently while driving and I drive it hardly to reach anywhere I am going to. 

But now there is no ecm code which can be recognised by the elm327 obd adapter even though the epc light glows the there is no other fault code in ecm.

But in this thread I've noticed that break light bulb also cause epc light glow, As I have changed my break light bulbs with Chinese led ones would that cause the epc light to glow?(very recently one of the break light led bulb went off and I have to change it back to halogen yet as I don't have a cheap replacement due to covid)

My question is even If the epc light glows due to break light bulb, will it cause ghe engine loose power?

Gonna chanhe these bulbs back to stock halogen.

Ps- I have retrofitted 90% of my bulbs with led would that also be an cause?
