Saw a brief update notification as I drove off today, but my passenger cancelled before I could read beyond the word update.

Then the missus says, "oh  that comes up all the time, I just press OK and it goes away"

Didn't come up again, so no idea what this was for.   Went to the System Information and pressed Update System, but there was nothing to update there either.

 

Is this installing in background?  What's the latest version I should look for?

You should try to locate your Software Train value, this is firmware that is loaded (unless you had a map update)

 

It might be a value like this shown on screen, hold down Menu/Setup key for 10s or so and look around in menu

Shows exactly this ^^ in  the "Engineering" Menu

Software update/versions shows empty screen.
I'll get the wife to take a picture as it "comes up all the time"

New one will be 0304 or 0306 then when it lands

 

It's also hefty at around 4.3GB for the full package.  Maybe OTA will be smaller as it might download only new modules.

I have had this message a few times in the last few weeks. It always seemed to happen as I was driving, and it could not be started. Eventually it came up as I was in a car park with the engine off but ignition on. This time it obliged, and it was a very small update, taking less than 2 minutes to install.

These updates are usually minor tweeks to the 'shop' menu. Although my navigation database software updates itself every few months it doesn't seem to give me any prompts to download it.

 

The main system software (versions 0276, 0302, 0304 etc) can only be downloaded and installed by a dealer as they are ginormous!
