Extend the key and split the case of the fob using a coin or screwdriver and pop in a new battery.

Simple

If the fob doesn't work after that re-synch it by pressing a button and then unlocking the door with the key within a minute.

Thanks for quick reply ! Yeah I’ve tried that, am I correct in thinking it’s only the bottom part of the back case which should ping off ie the part by the key ring attachment ??

Try YouTube a golf mark 5 will be the same. Gives you the confidence to ensure you are not going to break it trying to prise it open.

Thanks, I’ve seen this on YouTube !  Mine hasn’t got the little square section where it shows the point to insert the screw driver, therefore I was concerned about applying a greater force !

Sorry about that, Sod's Law as I got something wrong with the formatting of the post so was messing with it for a while - for it to be wrong for you. 🤭
