Skoda Fabia 2015 model . Radio/Touch screen error. Emergency upgrade.

Featured Replies

HI

I have Fabia 2015 model. As of yesterday I get a error screen on the system display. "Message Emergency Update. Searching for update - no update found - message." Then goes black and then displays message again few seconds later. Does this all the time. Even when car is switched off. Skoda want £90 to even just look at it. For now I have removed the fuse to the device, to try and stop it flattening the battery.

Any advice how I can recover from this.

Take a picture, sounds like emergency firmware download option.

@WESTERNARCTICWelcome.

Is it a Mk3 Fabia or a late first registered Mk2?

So it's in emergency download.

@pab567 I assume he needs to pull radio out of glovebox to find the installed firmware?  If not, supply a VIN maybe.

Instead of guessing, this thread needs moving to the Mark 3 section...

See if you can drive car to somewhere (maybe even Halfords) to get the radio removed (afaik you should have a unit in glovebox)

Once this is done, you should be able to take a picture of the sticker on top of the unit and send here.

Then emergency firmware can be downloaded in theory by SD Card (you will need to get one if you haven't already of 8GB to 32GB, firmware is usually around 4GB)

As the device does not have SD slot that I can see , is it possible to use USB ? I will work on getting the photo. Shame can not get this info via the VIn #

The SD card is above your hazard switch I think, harder to tell with images.

If you don't have the glovebox unit, then the whole radio is behind the screen.

In case you found the info elsewhere and for other readers, for future reference the info about the SD card slot is in the infotainment 'Owner's Manual' and id you don't have the paper printed book you can download a PDF copy (along with the 'Operating Instructions (Driver's Handbook) on the following link. -  https://manual.skoda-auto.com/004/en-com/Models

And limited software updates from the 'update portal'. - https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/
