Porsche Boxster or Skoda? Hmm that'll take some thinking about ;)

Give us a clue. ;)

Well, it begins with a 'P'

And ends with 'orsche Boxster' ;)

Sooner have an Allegro myself.

Well I have now had the boxster for just under 12 months, and its a fine car. If I sell it she will be missed because its the best car I have owned (the vRS was a close 2nd). I just have the urge to get another skoda again, cheaper to insure, run and maintain.

Lovely motor - I do prefer the newer 911's but they are twice as dear.

Patient of mine was service manager for Rivervale, Portslade [Porsche and Merc] and gave me a lot of the glossy hardback owners handbooks for the Porsche models - you can normally only get them if you buy one!! [sooner have the car than the book though!]

The new Octy vRS PD170 is due out over here at the end of the month if its performance and economy you're looking for...

On the subject of running costs. Our Boxster has cost far less to maintain over 5 years, than the 2.0TDI Octavia has over 2. The Octavia is really poorly designed, and as a result spends far more time off the road.

I also dont believe that a Skoda can possibly come anywhere even slightly close to a Porsche Boxster in terms of driver involvement and enjoyment, all you'll ever get out of any Skoda is bags and bags of understeer (with the possible exception of the old octy 4x4, although that still understeers alot).

I guess it's all down to what you personally want out of a car though, like I say I cant see a Skoda giving one 10th of a percent of the driver enjoyment of a Boxster, but then if you value different things than I do, you may not agree.

I'd say just go out and test drive everything and anything, dont just stick to Skoda, theres plenty more far better cars out there, turning up in a boxster will also allow you test drives in far more exotic vehicles than if you were to pull up in an Octavia!! At the end of the day you've just gotta do what makes you happy, if thats a Skoda, then buy it!

I have a remapped PD130 - cant imagine being overwhelmed by the PD140 to be honest, especially in the mahoosive Octavia...;)

but a remapped Octavia will have a lot more than a remapped seriously uncool Fabia vRS. :P

I'm sure neither the Octavia or the Superb would fare any better on the 'cool wall' either though! oh well guess we'd best all go sell our cars

dont buy it i have had nothing but trouble with mine piece of sh**

Hmm, this thread is over 18 months old, and Manny (I believe) is very happy with his 2.0 PD Octavia... :)

Billyuk, please reply to your thread about the problems with your car, rather than spamming every 2.0FSI thread you can find...

A quick question....how is the 150bhp 2.0FSI engine more powerful than the 150bhp 1.8T engine? ;)

After the 1.8T Elegance Mk1 I found the Mk2 2.0 FSI had as much, if not more grunt too. What I do notice though, is a big flat spot around 50-60mph which the mk1's turbo would have masked me thinks

This is about the 5th such post I've seen from you billy.

Surely it'd be more productive taking the, known, FSI decoke issue up with skoda rather than posting in every thread how s*** Skoda's are?

Indeed I am, the only reason I didnt buy this particular car was the dealer sold it before I had a chance at buying it. Then I couldnt find one of a reasonable spec (2.0FSI) so went for the 2.0TDi instead.
