Hi All,

 

As above, rear door will not unlock and drivers door will only unlock with a key. central locking button in drivers door wont work and mirrors not operating. ( passender door locking button operates but only passenger side. )

 

 

I have noticed over last month or so I kept having to reset the auto window on the drivers side too, but not passenger. Auto mirror retract by key also stopped working.

 

I suspected broken loom to front door, but would this affect the rear too? could it be a broken earth and if so where to look for it?

 

Any advice gratefully received.

Maybe, maybe, and use a proper continuity tester across the wires in the front door bellows.

Sounds like it’s the drivers door loom. It does not just affect the front. Plenty of write ups and info in this forum. You can buy repair kits or slice and solder and if course have the whole loom replaced.

What was the issue how did you resolve ?

Soldered them up. I was confused as to why it affected other door, but all sorted now.

The two front door control modules have CAN bus communication, but the rear door modules are only connected to their same-side front door partners by LIN bus, not to the CAN system. So if a front door controller falls over due to e.g. that big fat red wire breaking, the same-side rear door unit won't be controllable from the front because it won't be getting instructions over the LIN wire.

Soldering the wires probably won't last that long  as all the cable insulations have lost their plasticity and are hard and brittle and are just going to break elsewhere and then the copper wire will work harden and also break.
