After a bit of investigation I found that this was due to the holes in the roof rails used to fit the guard upper support posts were used to secure the sunroof and blind. ( I have not confirmed that the roof holes are not available by removing the headliner, but it seems logical looking at the liner shape)

Having discovered that the guard fitted using the normal lower securing points, I made up posts from the parcel shelf to the roof liner going through the dog guard to hold it in place.

The above method is very secure with no movement or rattling and the longitudinal guard provides additional support. There is no danger of the dog or luggage coming forward in the event of an accident as even it the post fails to hold, the lower legs would hit the seat backs.

attached are a couple of photos if any one wishes the dimensions, please respond and I will add these to the chat

I hope this proves useful to anyone like me who has a dog and wants the added ventilation that the sunroof provides, again vey useful with a dog in the car.

Interesting, so it's only the roof fixings and not roof height?

I've got a traval guard & divider so roof fixings not used

It is only the roof fixing points that are the issue. The guard fits in all other respects, including height. The guard was purchased for a 2016 Superb estate without sunroof and is now fitted to a 2022 Superb Estate 2022.

Also fitted is the longitudinal divider giving the 40/60 split in the load space.

Attatched is Skodas fitting  instructions for the guard. 3v9_017_221.pdf3v9_017_221.pdf items A - F are replaced with the support posts.

@Gcdog Hi, came across this post while trying to find a suitable dog guard for our MK3 estate with pan sunroof.

Just wondering if you can share the details of what exactly you used to make the support struts? If I can knock something similar up myself this looks like a good solution. The Skoda dealer advised that the guard they can supply needs fitting by then and drilling into the headlining which I'm keen to avoid if possible!

I spoke to Trevall who said the guard is not suitable and they have no alternative.

Guardsman fit with the pan roof. I'm considering them for mine or a Thule crate when he outgrows his 4pets crate

This is the Thule crate that fits, need the threshold version due to the boot drop

I wanted the Travall one too as it has the door add-on. I'm not sure if anyone has tried fitting one as they look adjustable
