Travel Assists and SOS faulty

Featured Replies

I have a very annoying issue with the Travel Assist na SOS faulty errors

When drives sometimes i have a repeating 1 second warning about the Travel Assist error.

From time to time I have also SOS faulty errors which appear suddenly and ends with error to emergency call, but also mic is broken too and when I call to someone they did not hear me.

History starts in 2021 and currently I have four visit in service with result

1. Steering wheel change

2. Software update

3. Software update

4. Software update

Any of this solution not works for me. Now I have plan a five visit in service.

Do you have above error. Did you service fix this issue permanently or not?

It's a common fault across VAG vehicles built around the time yours was. My VW Passat is exactly the same. Some say that software updates cure the problems, for others the problems persist. I've put up with mine only beacause I cant afford the time to take it back and forth to the dealers.

My software was recently updated to 0306, the dealer telling me this update includes a fix for SOS. It is only available at dealership level I believe, it is not an OTA update or from the Skoda update website.

I'd had the SOS error about 4 times, but only after a year of ownership (from new), so I strongly suspect a previous software update had introduced the bug in the first place. I haven't had the error back, but as I say it was only four times I think, and they were reasonably far apart as well, so this isn't me saying it definitely is the cure for it. The dealership did however say straight away on the phone that they had an update that cures it and had applied it to other Superb's for the exact same thing, there was no bullsh!tting from them.

What software version are you on?

What is the Travel Assist warning actually telling you by the way?

I frequently had the random SOS error since the day after delivery in March 2021 (plus Travel Assist and a whole series of other spurious errors with the assist systems), but those have all disappeared with a software update at the dealer last month. Interestingly the errors were almost all happening only when I was driving in the UK (I've probably done around 30% of my mileage abroad) and quite often at around the same geographical location, so I wonder if it's possibly connected in some way with the UK mobile network connection protocols being different to those on the continent. The only two times it happened outside of the UK were within a few miles of the German-Dutch border at two different locations.

+1 for the software update. March 21 car, picked it up at 6 months old. Had SOS errors from the start. If there was one lingering when you turned the car on it couldn’t validate your profile and so you didn’t get anything on the MMB. Also GPS had me miles away from where we were on occasion.

Update to latest software sorted everything. Has been weeks since with no issue. Been through classic part of m25 where SOS would arise and nothing. Can’t be done OTA but I think it enables future OTA updates I think (I could be wrong on that). Def do it.

Sounds correct to me, as when I picked the car up after mine was updated by the dealership it immediately did three OTA updates on the way home, one of which it stated was to correct a data sim error.

Checked my software and I’m still on 306 which is about a year old. Am sure I’ve seen a few higher numbers rattling around. I thought 306 introduced OTA updates so I thought this would update but is that wrong? Should I be updating manually through the USBC?

Reply for closure - yep seems OTA update doesn’t do the firmware; downloaded using mibhelper.co.uk and vegarz on here through his ftp link. Updated from 306-308-330 all using the USB-A data port under the armrest.
