Artificial Noise 🤬

Featured Replies

I’ve tried using the search facility but haven’t come up with anything, but I’m sure I can’t be the first to ask the question.

Ā

my VRS has the ā€œbenefitā€ of a fake engine noise when in Normal or Sports mode.

Ā

I’ve managed to set up Individual mode without the noise, but can’t see how/where to turn the noise off when in Normal mode. Although I’m not a huge fan of the noise, it’s somehow more acceptable if in Sports mode.

Ā

can anyone point me in the right direction please?Ā

(I’ve also tried RTFM but couldn’t find it in there either - but if anyone can point me to the right part of the manual that would be great)

By default it can't be done. The only mode where you can turn of the fake noise is individual mode. Or use one of modes where noise is off by default - Comfort and Eco.

Thanks - a bit annoying but at least I can stop wasting time trying to work out how to do it.

I think it depends on software version. My VRS has no fake sounds in any mode except sport.Ā
Ā

maybe if you can get it updated to a newer version, you might get some joy.

But the fake sound can be coded to adjust the sound intensity or turn it off completely. If you know how to use coding tools like OBD11 or VCDS, you can do it yourself. Otherwise you can contact a specialist garage who deals with coding and get it done.Ā

I did wonder about seeing if I could have it coded out but I'm a bit reluctant to start interfering (or to be more precise, have someone else interfere) with the coding on a new car. Given the reports of software issues, should I get any problems in the future I don’t want Skoda turning round and saying it’s my problem as I’ve changed stuff.

Ā

I was rather hoping I’d missed something obvious that I could just switch off. I’ll just run in either individual ( and no noise) Ā or sport (with noise ) as the mood takes me.

I bit the (pricey) bullet and did OBDEleven and the changes went though very easily and no probs yet. The soundaktor is now at 30% and that seems a good compromise between a very well insulated engine and knowing there's work being done (without pretending to have V6).
