Rear reflector replacement

Featured Replies

My rear reflector has been damaged and compromised.

Has anyone replaced one and how is it done please?

I've seen a lot like this, it doesn't reduce the reflectiveness of it any.

Anyway, they should just be held in with a clip at either end. If you can, get a plastic trim tool in and try prying it out or failing that you could try going in behind the wheel arch liner to the back of the bumper and the clips may be visible from there. This may require you to jack up the car or even take the wheel off to get enough access though.

Putting the new reflector in should just be a case of placing back in the recess and pushing to hear a click.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply. I just don't like things to look scruffy. I'll have a go!

Buy the new one, you will see from the clips how it fits, then you can destroy the old one to remove it if need be.

Or when you see the price of the new one you might decide scruffy (in your eyes) is not so bad after all.

No,definitely can't live with scruffy😄

Have you tried to polish the scruffy mark out.

A detailing company might have something that will work.

Thanks, AG Falco

Sorry for being stupid, but is it the slight scuff or is that water behind the reflector or is that just how the photo makes the bottom of it look dark?

This is a rough picture of the part itself, or at least the connector tabs you might want to zoom in on.

They appear to have a V shaped clip that need pinching together to release.

Not that expensive from main dealer (£6.63 +VAT if I have right part) so probably best to ring/email for a price.

Supply your VIN, tell them to look at illustration 947-000, part numbers 45/46 for left/right reflector.

Please verify these numbers with dealer as mentioned.

45 & 46 with part number 6V6 xxx yyy are for Hatchback

(45) & (46) with part number 6V9 xxx yyy are for Wagon/Avant

I recommend a couple of different-sized trim tools for any tool box - I've found them surprisingly versatile.

Its water within the reflector. Thanks for the pic and part number,

Please note - I am not a mechanic or expert in anything.

When I had water in a much smaller reflector than that I drilled three small holes to let the water out and air in and that worked, difficult to see/notice the holes too unless you looked for them.  Cheap and easy to try if you have a small drill bit (possibly better done with a hand drill or with care if you only know of power tools).
