Heated Steering Wheel

Featured Replies

I had my new Kodiaq Sportline delivered yesterday, very happy with it except I appear to have a fault

when I hit the button for the heated steering wheel nothing happen, the messages come on the dash telling me

its on but zero heat emits.

only done short journeys so far and I have once had an error message pop up telling me there is a fault.

is this a fault anyone else has had?

will be passing by a dealership tomorrow so will pop in, knowing Škoda in my experience, I’ll end up having to wait weeks until it can be looked at

@Davidr1986 Have you tried to adjust the heating power?

When it’s switched on, it automatically is set to full power, but nothing happens on setting 1 or 2 either

Steering heater is pretty weedy in my experience.  On max I need to drive several miles before I can even tell it's on.  Previous Ford would be toasty within 30 seconds just stood on the drive.

Mine too… it’s a good 5 minutes at least before it starts to feel vaguely warm. Same for the seats as well IMHO.

And there’s absolutely no need for the lower settings because neither the wheel nor the seats get hotter than ‘comfortable’ before the heat starts cycling on/off.

That's interesting.  I find the seats are quite warm and heat up fairly quickly.  Compared with the seats the steering heater does seem 'broken'.

I'm going off my (probably rather poor) memories of last winter. It hasn't got cold enough yet for me to turn either on so far, but give it a few more weeks.

Edit: Hit post too early... meant to say that it may be because of coming from an Edition with leather seats, where they got really nice and toasty, to the vRS with fabric seats that I don't think stay hot as well as the leather ones 🙂

Defo something up then. If I switch on both steering wheel and seat at the same time, I start to feel the heat coming thru about 1min more than I feel the seat.

My car is different to above experiences, I'm switching the heat off after 5min as the element is too hot.

I would try it on a longer journey.

Mine take a bit to start to feel warm up then gets up to temperature quite quickly

I had a 45 minute or so drive today, had the wheel turned on the whole time, with the little picture showing on VC etc, zero heat then eventually after about 30-35 mins in the warning light came on displaying the error

Subjective. I keep both the steering wheel and seats at the lowest power, all the rest is too hot for me.

Never seen that, so as you say it looks broken.

Only ever had heated seats on Yetii but they always heated up quickly.

I was alwaysdoing a bigger milage then so the battery was always well up.

On my old banger 2020 Bear the seats and wheel work perfectly with a brisk warm up 🙂

And it's very noticeable in a few minutes. I usually turn heat down after a short period.

As an aside, I find the heated seat button is the quickest and easiest way to access the hot wheel settings.

Sorry , not understanding that.  Are you saying that turning on the heated seat also turns on the steering wheel?

You can link the hot wheel to the hot seats just as you can link rear wiper to reverse gear and folding mirrors to locking vehicle.

I check the boxes to avoid all of these unwanted features.

Simply pressing the hot seat switch brings up both the hot seat setting and the hot wheel setting.  Quickest way in for me.

Does this link the wheel to the driver's seat or both seats? If both, how is the setting separate for each?

To drivers seat.

@BoxerBoy

Not an option I've seen on my car but that's probably because you have the old version.

Cars with the new style steering wheel have the heater button on the wheel itself so very simple to turn on/off and adjust temp setting.

Yeah… I have considerably less options.

Trip to the dealers for a new steering wheel
