Park assist, only 50% functionallity?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I got a 2021 model Octavia RS, for some reason it only has the sensors functionallity but lacks the wheel turning one, I assume it's the same sensors and I would also assume that the wheel turning mechanism is there as I do have lane assist.

I can also see that some models have 3D aero view.

Is it possible to activate this with OBD Eleven or any hack?

Do you have all 16 sensors? The auto parking feature needs the side sensors, side assist works with only 8. Lane assist uses the windshield camera, not the sensors.

Well the only thing I can see in the configuration is

Lane assist

side assist

Maneuver Assist

front and rear parking sensors

How can i spot the other perhaps missing sensors?

Guess i don't as I don't have the sensors shown at all (only front and back)

But no idea really,

Park assist needs the extra sensors (located in the sides, where bumpers reach the wheel arch)

Any chance you can take a photo of how it looks like?

16?

On the Mk3 Octavia Park Assist only had 12 sensors, 4 front, 4 rear and 2 on each side (one by the front & one by the rear wheel arches).

I wasn't able to find a MK4 with park assist but I would expect the extra sensors to be in a similar place to the MK3.

Could very well be 12. I was going by the video linked earlier, where it looked like 4 zones on each side.

You don't have them. That's why you're missing the auto park function.

It's the same kind of display (but not as nice) on the Octavia 3, it extrapolates between the side sensors as you drive slowly along searching for a suitable space.

I'm mad now 😞

What pack was it included on? as I can't even seem to spec it in the UK version

Doesn't seem to be an option at the moment, possible related to the ongoing chips shortage?

It was an option in the April 2021 brochure called "Park Assist":

So sad, it's so cheap and so useful for me personally, I hate parallel parking, it's so fraustrating especially with this somewhat long car.

I wonder if a retrofit is possible for a decent price

Letting you know that the latest link was actually great, I'm in touch with these guys and we'll see how it goes.

I will keep you guys in touch, once purchasing I'll just go to a workshop that will install and code my system as well.

Practice, practice, practice; doing it manually and going in backwards is so much easier than faffing about with this un-necessary system and possible extra expense. I have Parking Assist but never use it. Mirrors and front/back sensors are all you need, and even the sensors are not really necessary.

Yep, thing is, I've only had Ibiza, Hyundai I30 and Fiat Bravo, all are easy comparing to the Octavia.

I guess I'll have to practice either way.

  • 1 year later...

You need (make a retrofit) 4 sensors, wiring, module and coding to use intelligent park assist... I wanna make the same (put intelligent PAL) on my new Octavia mk4.. I'm looking for the coding at this time.
