Engine type not shown in user manual...

Featured Replies

I changed the oil on my 2017 1.2 TSI on Saturday but downloaded the manual during the process, just to double check a few things.

I put my VIN number into the Skoda website, downloaded the manual and saw that the engine in the car isn't even listed in the manual. It appears that the 1.0 was present in 2017.

If I download the 2016 manual, this does list the 1.2 TSI....

So, I could maybe understand that my car might be a 2016 model registered in 2017 but why would the VIN number turn up the incorrect manual?

I put some 5W30 Castrol Edge Titanium LL in it along with a Mahle filter so I presume it's now good for another 8-10k miles.

It was the first time I'd changed the oil on it and I found it pretty easy. Almost as easy as the 1.2 8V TSI although there's a lot to be said for having the oil filter at the top of the engine!

It was also MOT'd. It appeared that the advisory on suspension bushes written up last year (when it was MOT'd at the Skoda main dealer) miraculously fixed itself for the MOT this time around. The mechanic I normally use checked them out beforehand and said there was nothing wrong with them, which was then confirmed  by the MOT test station. It makes me wonder about what these main dealers get up to....

Added info

The Euro 6 1.2 TSI engine can be on variable / flexible servicing and oil & filter change at 24 months , 18,000-20,000 mile intervals, or on Fixed when VW 504 00 / 507 00 is used.

That is 5w 30 FS III  (long life oil.)

If on Fixed so 9,400 / 12 months then it can be VW 502 00, so 5w 40 FS,  not Long Life oil.

Pls share your VIN so I can decode.

An "advisory" is exactly that; one mechanic's opinion that $component is showing wear but does not warrant a failure.

Please note - I am not a mechanic or expert in anything.

Much of the MoT test is of one trained person's opinion and only relates to that one point of time.
