Washer Adjustment

Featured Replies

Washer jets aren't aimed correctly, service receptionist says the nozzles can be adjusted with a pin! Is this correct? Has anyone done it? Don't want to risk damaging anything. Can't imagine how they both got out of position in the first place.

Any words of wisdom appreciated, ta.

I've done it on a previous car with a pin. 👍

Years ago, washer jets we little metal balls in a mounting, with a hole drilled through them through which water squirted.

A bit like the ball on a ball-point pen.

To adjust them, you stuck a pin in the jet hole and this showed you where the jet was presently aligned, and allowed you to lever the ball in its mounting to a different position.

I don't know if they're fancier than that these days, but that was how we used to do it, back in the day.

Of course, you can go all fancy and get a tool to do it, but a pin works fine.

Am not really sure if this will work in O4.

We have "mist" kind of washers, not the ones with 2 or 3 nozzles. In my previous car (Ateca) "mist" washers were adhusted using a small allen key. By turning it you would set it higher or lower.

Edit: have checked pics of O4 nozzle, and it seems no allen key needed anymore. Instead it SEEMS, that it's possible to adjust by just moving it manually.

Thanks guys for your helpful replies. Tried adjusting them just now after work and they seem to have tabs on top which you can use to clip them up or down in notches with a finger nail. Moved the driver's side up a notch and tried it. Passenger side had moved up as well so they must be linked.

You can adjust them up or down with your hand. They aren’t linked that I know of?
