Bug or a feature

Featured Replies

So, finally the winter is here in Slovenia and as its supposed to be the temperatures are now below zero degrees. We even had our first snow in the lower regions. So my Octy has seen snow for the first time and went mad - all the lights came on (assistance system errors) :)

This got me thinking - is this a bug or a feature.

Does my Octy know its Christmas time and switches lights on automatically - giving me my personalized Christmas décor? :) Or is this a bug?

On a serious note - so I get it, when the car is covered in snow and the sensors are covered or dirty or frozen?? they could not work and the errors are normal. But when this is not the case and the only thing is that the temperature is below zero degrees, is it normal for assistance systems to not work? Talking about front assist, ACC, side assist....and all others (don't even know which turned on as it was impossible to read during driving)? See the attached picture to see more (disregard the air bag light - this is a bug and I'm waiting for some new part to arrive).

I didn't have any issues today at -6. But my car was under the roof and fairly clean. I mean without any frost.

Did you by any chance turn off or reduce the steering wheel heater just before those popped up? Emergency assist and front assist (the two lights to the left) usually pop up together when doing that.

ACC and lane assist could get disabled if either the windscreen camera or the front radar gets fogged up or otherwise contaminated.

The front assist on mine has errored a couple of times in the cold snap we've got in the UK at the moment, however as it often errors at other times I haven't paid it much attention!

Yes I did. I turned the wheel heating on and adjusted it a couple of times. You're right.. The lights turned on after that. That's not normal is it?

I have had that a few times and it cannot be snow or sub-zero temperatures since that does not occur here.

And it cannot be the heated wheel since that is not even offered in this country.

Sometimes it seems to be due to wet weather.

It clears itself after a while.

But the bonging sound that accompanies it is very distracting, as are the intermittent messages that take over the main display.

Definitely not normal, but it seems to be a fairly common bug. I'm not sure if there's a fix for it yet.

Next time it happens, try quickly pressing the heater button again, cycling through all the levels. Sometimes I can get the error to disappear before the second ding by doing that.

Will try that - thanks

I have the same, cold here just below freezing, so not bad, but twice in the last week its done that, I had the steering heating on but not changing it so mine is not connected to that. Seems to only happen first thing in the morning for me and when its cold, but not always!! Sadly I ignore it now as it resets when I turn the car off and on again.
