Superb SEL driver seat for tall drivers

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am a fairly tall guy, at 6ft 3in, and i find the standard SEL seat very uncomfortable and even in the lowest position is still to high, so that my view out is hindered.

Did anyone change the seat to something else, maybe the sportline variant or some other aftermarket seat? Or maybe did some modification to it so you can sit lower?

Thanks!

Not sure if you've got manual or electric seats but are you sure you have the seat all the way down ?  If I move my seat fully back and fully down I can barely see over the dashboard (I'm only 5ft 9 but I really am low when it's all the way down).

Assuming you've got electric seat.... Sometimes it seems that the seat doesn't move to it's full range if other seat adjustments are in a position it doesn't like.  Try moving the seat all the way back before trying to move it down, and then after you've moved it down and it's come to a stop, try pressing the down button again and you may find it moves more.

That's kind of how Superb is. The seating position is not so low, also the windshield is on the smaller side with a more specific angle - that's how they managed to squeeze so much space inside (back seat, boot) compared to even Passat.

Manually adjustable seats seem to go a bit lower then electric ones.

Errr… how does the rake or size of the windscreen affect the seating space in the cabin? A greater rake angle will reduce the headroom, nothing else.
Although the Passat is 9.6cm shorter, more importantly, its wheelbase is 13.2cm less than the Superb. That’s how they squeeze so much space in the cabin.

Here comes the normal comments of are you long torso or long legs 😂😂

But in all seriousness, there is not a whole bunch that can be done for this sorry

You appear to have asked this question twice before, I suspect the answers will be the same as before:

Oh and BTW, our son is 6’5” and he has no problem driving the 280. Seat adjusted all the way back, the height adjusted so his head is around 1cm from the headlining, the front of seat raised up to have a bend at his knees and wheel all the way into the dash. .
