I'm sure this used to be a common issue that was discuseed in here 15  + years ago, and iirc there was a 'quick fix' solution to this.

I'm pretty sure it's the backrest, as if I lean forward to take the weight of it, it does seem to reduce the noise significantly.

 

Anyone remember what it is please, as the constant racket is really starting to get me down now.

Can't believe I've put up with this for several years and only just asked the question, but probably because it's getting worse

Had my drivers one out a long time ago because it was squeaking. I lubricated something under the seat base and it's never squeaked again. I don't know about the backrest though, unfortunately.
