new messages "2 cylinder mode" and "eco"

Featured Replies

A couple of messages I have not noticed before they appear then go.

Something about 2-cylinder mode, no one has ever mentioned this

and Eco appears then fades away.

Can this be the computer "dreaming" or are they actual functions.

You have a 1.5 TSI ACT, so Active Cylinder Technology so it does go to 2 cylinders when it should and can.

As to ECO mode, best ready the Owners Manual.  .

Thank you, I am surprised the dealer made no mention of either function.

The Eco mode, seems to be a case of a very light foot on the throttle and once the Eco light comes up just maintain the foot position?

I don't seem to have a selector button.

Good.

On your car is the gear indicator showing you are in Coasting mode and not just ECO, so instead of D7 it just shows D, or does it not work that way?

?

When was your car first registered, or do you know when built.

@57 mins.

@13 mins.

The little ECO on the dash lights when the car goes into 2 cylinder mode. On mine you can hear a change in exhaust note when you run on very light throttle.

My Karoq has 4 driving modes, normal, eco, sport and custom (or similar). The car starts in normal mode, and I often switch to sport, which, as I have a manual box, seems to make best part of no difference apart from slighty stiffening the steering. I have never tried eco so I don't know what it does, but it may limit the use of aircon. If you try custom, it brings up a menu where you can set individual parameters to how you like them. It may be possible to look at this menu to get an idea of what is sporty, normal and eco.

When eco comes on its running on to cylinders. 2 are shut off exhausted gasses are left in the 2 none running ones as to create pressure too force them down in rotation. If you go on the motorway and eco activities accelerate you will get a type of  turbo boost. eco is always there it just gets brighter

@Routemaster1461An ECO setting on your manual 1.5 TSI is not affecting your AC like hsppren with BEV's to give the cars more range from the battery.

Them 4 settings are driving style not engine ECO

I think it is! If you select the individual mode and then select change, you can change the aircon settings from normal to eco. So I would imagine that setting the mode to eco would set the aircon to eco as well, otherwise the option would be pointless.

I have an eco icon which tells me when my car goes into 2 cylinder mode. I have a driving mode called eco. What is the third eco? Are you referring to stop/start?

Karoq.

Autohold not well explained and the button, and the e-Brake does operate differently from Autohold, and it is the e-Brake that applies when you take off the seat belt , open the door etc.

If I may comment  -   this thread has become somewhat confused and self-contradictory.

It was posted in the Kamiq forum.   Gumdrop raised a question, presumably relating to his 1.5 petrol DSG Kamiq.

It has now drifted onto aspects of the auto-hold and e-brake of the Karoq.

  • 8 months later...

I have a new Skoda Octavia SEL 1.5 petrol etec automatic hatch back. The message that used to appear on the display: COASTING OR 2 CYLINDER MODE no longer appears.

You've posted in the Kamiq forum, try asking in the Octavia one
