Vacuum Cleaner in engine bay since clutch change.

Featured Replies

Long story but 2 weeks ago I had to have the clutch and flywheel chaged by Skoda - not in warrantly so bye bye

It might be the secondary air pump which only runs for a couple of minutes at most immediately after startup. I think it is on the front LHS of the engine viewed from the front.

Yup Denis is right.

If its got noisier then possibly one of the pipes has come off, check the one of the airbox.

As I look at from the front of the car, the noise seems to be coming from the front right hand side, not left hand side- would this be correct?

If its come off the air filter then yes.

Just infront of the main air pipe should be a smaller ribbed pipe clipped in.

Thanks - I'll check tonight

When I changed to my induction kit, they forgot to put the secondary breather filter in the pack. I improvised for the few days til it turned up. I doubled some polish cloth and put it over the top, then it sounded like a dyson, I reduced it to one layer, and the noise stopped. Could your pipe be restricted in anyway?

Fully K&N'd now. Lovely.

Cars back in the garage now.

Thanks to you guys I found out that the problem was due to the garage not putting the pipe form the air pump back into the airbox.

Sadly, they left it under another pipe and wedged against one of the cooling fans. Obviously that has come on in the last few days and completely destroyed the pipe from the pump to the airbox.

The garage are going to replace for free (as expected) but the part is on back order for up to 10 days.

Is there any problem with me driving the car with the hose disconnected? The garage says no but to be honest, my faith in them is at an all time low.

Thanks for all your help though. Without the replies above I wouldn't of found the fault myself and it could be a different story.
