Speedometer malfanction

Featured Replies

Hi,

A few weeks ago I noticed that the needles that indicate speed, revolutions, fuel and temperature, fell down for a second and then indicated correctly again.

Now, they stopped indicating anything, they stay at zero. The illumination and warninglights still work. Does anyone have an idea?

I've also still that problem with the central locking, haven't found the time yet to open up the door. Maybe they are related? (Closing the drivers door does not close the other doors, turning the key in the trunck does. Warning alarm for "light on" does not work and interior illumination doesn't go on when opening the door. I hear an irritating ticking sound in the front door)

Thanks

And now the windscreenwipers wont work anymore.

The gauges seem to work again now and then.

The wipers go up a bit but don't get to the top and thus don't return to zero position, if you help the wipers, you can get them back at zero position very slowey... I hope this isn't the start of .... bigger problems

Wipers - the linkage could be seizing, either replace or strip down and clean up.

Locking - the drivers door lock has a problem (the part which is bolted to the door, not the bit that you put the key in) - the microswitch that tells the control unit that the door is open is not working.

What do you mean with "the linkage could be seizing, either replace or strip down and clean up"?

The wipers work again but there very slow, as if they get not enough current, even if there not wiping the window there slow.

Where the wiper arms attach, the spindles seize in the alloy housing, either replace the complete linkage with a new one, or remove strip down, clean up and lubricate the old linkage. I think a new linkage is in the region of £35 + VAT.
