Following a flat battery over Xmas and replacing with a brand new battery, my system is displaying the following message - Software Download-Source activated, searching for SWL Image.

Can't knock it off and back on so have had to resort to disconnecting it as its draining the new battery. Skoda main dealer has looked at it and told me that the head unit has gone. Is it repairable or any advice on the best places to replace it please?

It's looking for CD with SW upgrade. Take the unit out and post a picture of upper case label.

As long as you can burn a CD-R from an ISO image, you will be ok.

Thanks for that. Main problem that I have is that none of the buttons work and everything seems to be frozen. Don't know if putting in a CD would change this though? Where would I get the update discs from please?

Me or Pab567 would be able to send.  They are on eBay if you cannot burn CD-R.

 

As for the pressing, not sure yet as the firmware recovery might actually allow some functionality to work, as it's in recovery mode.

I've answered this before, me or @pab567 are able to send you the file you will need to burn to a CD-R disk yourself.

Can you/someone you know burn a CD?

 

It's not "frozen" it's waiting to be fed with a firmware CD, and then it will take over the boot code and the buttons should work.

As just mentioned, this can be sent as an ISO file, and you just need recording software (Windows itself can do it) to burn this to a blank CD-R

I suggest to use 5274, not 5270, as 5270 (as well as 5269) are kind of buggy
