Superb Sportline

Question re wheel size on a 2017 Superb Estate Sportline. I have read quite a few posts saying the 19" wheels are not ideal on a Superb. Why would that be when Skoda is the one that has that size wheel on a Sportline? They could have had an 18" or a 17" if that was better for ride and handling. Is it just for looks?

Nothing wrong with 19’s on a Superb if it has DCC, which the SportLine doesn’t (as std).

But if it doesn't have DCC would you advise against? This is a 4x4 2.0 tdi I am looking at.

Not been in one without DCC, but the SportLine does have slightly lower suspension so you would need to test drive it really.

At 6 years old it may benefit from new suspension anyway (Bilstein would get my vote. )

Yes it's just for looks

Sportline is just look sporty, it doesn't mean it is a sports car.  Actually the superb has always been the opposite, built more as a limo.

Basically big diamond cut alloys look great under bright lights when new, but a few years later when stones have damaged the surface, or a poor driver has hit a kerb, or anyone has hit edge of big pothole they look a mess.  If you are struggling to visualise, just go to any car park and look at any 5+ year old car with big alloys.  You will soon realise look dreadful unless you are kind of person who washes car and wheels at least fortnightly.

I've got a 2017 Sportline with the 19" alloys and standard suspension (no DCC).  As mentioned above they are starting to show there age and could do with a re-furb.  I've seen others say that the 19's make the ride more harsh and cause more road noise.  But I haven't been in another Superb to comment on that.

Regarding suspension:  I changes the 4 shocks to Koni Special actives.  Made the car handle a lot better.

My Sportline came on 19" alloys, looked the part and handled well but the ride suffered

Currently on 17" with all seasons, nice and quiet, comfortable and able to ride the pot holes

You pays your money and takes your chances............

People keep saying this, but ive never seen proof of it. Nothing in the part system about a sportline having short springs at all?

Back when they came out it was in the brochure, can’t remember if it was 10 or 20mm lower??

If the car has DCC shocks, it's suspension is 10mm lower than the Standard setup without DCC.

Was explicitly mentioned in the brochure.

I've got 19s on my Superb, and it's very comfortable with the DCC setup.

It is more comfortable than the 18s I had my MK2 Octavia RS.

It's going to b 6 yrs and my 19s don't look faded or dull.

I don't wash my car often enough.

On the Superb - the 19s not look great and ride great.

Just my take on this...

I've just recently changed my Octavia 3 Estate with 18s to a Superb 3 SE L Hatch with 19s and no DCC!

The Superb is in a different league for comfort compared to what I now acknowledge was an 'unrefined' ride in the Octavia (Single beam rear suspension doesn't help matters one bit).

With that said, it might be that my seasoned ass is more used to discomfort than most, but I really don't think its that big of a deal...

If you're in or around London or Hants and fancy a go in mine to either please, or disgust you before you pull the trigger, just let me know.

I have SportLine with 19" rims, can't complain but I think it's due to DCC lol However even with the DCC turned to Sport mode I don't feel uncomfortable or find the ride harsh in anyway. I don't know how much firmer a passive suspension is to DCC but still, at its stiffest it still doesn't feel harsh.
