I won’t give any details about age or mileage of the belt yet so it won’t influence your visual opinion about it, I will be grateful for any answers . So what do you think? It looks ok or not, I haven’t seen how different a new one looks like

Are you worrying about the roughness of the non-toothed side?

I can dredge up a pic of a newly-fitted genuine belt fitted to my Polo at a VW dealership that looks identical. 

I'd want to see the engine barred-over so that I could see the entire length (inside and out) - but that looks fine to me. Go on, you're going to say that it's original and done over 100000 miles. 😁

77 000 miles on it, probably it is the original one so it should have 8 years and this is why I am worried. I am thinking to use it for another year until I’ll change it 🤔

It looks in good condition, but it does look aged.

But as it is, I see no damage and no sign of it looking like it's on its last legs and about to fall apart.

It'll be fine. 🙂

But if you're keeping the car, it's going to want one one day, so might as well get it done when you can. 

Good for another 10 years and another 100K miles so long as you keep inspecting it.

 

It looks remarkably clean and schmoo free in there, take care to locate the cover correctly and close all the over centre clips and it should remain that way.

 

By coincidence I checked mine this week, similar condition, original belt, 120K miles.

I've just had the timing belt replaced on my wife's Citigo ( 2013 model with 36,000 miles ) and asked my local independent garage for the bits that they took off.

I had inspected it a few weeks ago and it looked perfect - no gaps between belt and pulley teeth and no fraying, etc.

The work was done as the car was 10 years old and local Skoda dealers recommended every 5 years, independent of mileage (which is a bit odd)

I knew they were original parts because we bought it at one year old with 16,000 miles (an ex-hire company car)

The original belt was in excellent condition - no visible wear on the teeth (tested by pressing the belt onto itself so the teeth engaged with each other) or signs of fraying. splitting, etc.

I recall my old faithful VW Passat B2 1.8 litre showed small gaps between pulley and belt teeth - but that was at 175,000 miles and umpteen cambelt changes.

The tensioner and idler pulleys were also in fine fettle - not loose, rough or rattly - just smooth with a slight tightness to indicate that the bearings were largely unworn and lubricated.

The charge was £454, of which £180 was labour - a lot of money for something I used to do myself, but I suppose that is the cost for peace of mind  ?

 

The engine manufacturer of the CHYA & B engines, VW, recommend inspecting the cambelt at 240k km (160k mile) intervals, and to replace if necessary.  There is no time limit.  All covered in the service manual (below).  My 2016 cambelt is on 95k miles and running as smooth as silk.
