Just wondered what other car forums members here go on from time to time, and how they rate in comparison with Briskoda. For me its;

UKSaabs, Saabscene and for entertainment value (not a registered member though) Barry Boys

Have to say, the 2 Saab sites are top notch for technical advice about Saabs but that's about it, not much banter around cars in general or that much humour.

Barry Boys well what can I say, some of the cr@p on there makes me pi$$ my sides.

When I got my Saab I thought I'd soon be giving Briskoda up, but I haven't - its great! The banter plus the general threads on all types of cars and motoring in general makes it better than the majority of car mags out there.

Plus its also nice to aid any querys/questions and pass on advice (not that there's much worth knowing to pass on) relating to the Fabia VRS from my own experience.

All in all its a big  for Briskoda from me, thanks for a top 12 months - well worth the

I once logged into the Skoda Owners Club site. Very poor site with older Skodas and little of interest for me.

I was also a member of the Renault Megane owners club but all we did was discuss how to send complaint letters to Renault Customer Services. NEVER AGAIN!!

www.mr2roc.co.uk

NOT a patch on this forum, without massaging the briskoda ego too much, this is the best forum I have come accross on the internet

That MR2 forum I've already expressed my feelings apon one moderator on there who tell's newbies to (and I quote):

"shut the f**k up and try a search"

Now where have I heard something similar?

Jeez, how many more times are we going to have to cover this one!. Just type in 'Talex' in the search bar and you'll get the message

There are other forums?

www.vauxhallownersnetwork.co.uk from when I had a Corsa, a Cavalier and an astravan. It used to be just www.cavweb.com and I posted on it for about five years and was in the top ten posters (currently i'm the 44th as I haven't posted for months and months)
Now where have I heard something similar?

That's really got to you today hasn't it Chris!, better loosen up pal coz it's getting warmer and tempers can fray a little. :P

www.fiatforum.com

- from when I had my Punto. I still visit that site...and quite a few people on there have had/own/or are getting Fabia vRSs lol. There's less talk about other car makes, compared to Briskoda but they're a decent bunch of people who have a laugh and I like winding people up with having a big photo of a Skoda in my sig etc :D Surprised im not bannned.

This forum's been dead useful to me, ive asked loads of questions and they've been answered. Sort of the opposite to Fiatforum, where I mainly answered people's questions...probably with the wrong stuff but nevermind

FFOC - untill i was told to f**k of by a couple mods and a fair few members as i don't own a focus anymore so not welcome, funny how a lot of other members don't drive a focus and are welcome

323gtx.co.uk - not a lot of banter and infact not a lot of anything really, a pretty quiet place

a certain other skoda forum :)

i was once a member of the UK hyundai accent owners club as swmbo has one and i wanted some info, stayed around for a bit as they were a very good bunch of people but the place got relaunched and everyone had to join again and i CBA tbh :)

the same as above for a local cruze site :D a few mates are on there and its a bit of a giggle but CBA now to re-register.

a TT forum that i go on every now and then for general info :)

I used to be a Citroen C2 GT owner. Their site www.c2sportsclub.co.uk is okay, but a bit chavvy. There are some extremely knowledgeable people on there, but some of them just write posts about alloys, body kits and CAI kits all the time.

This is far better, with less negativity and a very supportive group of people.

Also, the poor buggers spend huge amounts of money on their cars to give them 5-10 extra horsepower. Then there are the other kind who ruin quite a nice looking car with the maddest bodykits and trick paint. Mind you, some of them were decent blokes with good advice.

I've been on numerous motorcycle/car forums and my view is that they are very similar.

Great for product knowledge, technical help, mods etc. Also there are some very very helpful people whos help/assistance often restore my faith in human kindness.

The downs for me are, absolute brand loyalty and how clicky most forums seem to be. By the way, the two 'downs' do NOT apply to all.

Lance

Due to the lack of any workshop manual for the car I found http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/ invaluable to keep my old 2.3 Ford Scorpio Ultima going. Many component diagrams, schematics etc. available have proven useful for many tasks I found requiring my attention. Along with the site a very helpful forum with technical advice etc. has also assisted me greatly. Great car to drive....really ugly exterior but when you are driving it you don't see it ! :D

Pop on SeatCupra and SeatEnthusiasts occasionally. Same with UKMKIVs and Detailing World.

UK Polos, Edition38 and Pistonheads more frequently.

In as unbiased an opinion as I can muster, none of them match up to this place. Both in the feel of community (however you measure that) and ease of use. Says a lot when quite a lot of regulars (myself included) no longer own Skodas yet still come on here, as well as being Freedom members.

scoobynet :D

barryboys:eek:  :o

I'm a moderator on Type-r-owners.co.uk and prefer it to this forum. There's too many people on here who are right up themselves and are very insecure about their cars because its skoda. Even when my CTR goes and i get my fabia i'll still spend most of my time on TRO. I mostly come on here for technical stuff although i take some of that with pinch of salt. Still i have been on worse then here.:cool:

None.

This is the first forum I've used to any extent.

I much prefer usenet to web forums
