Drivers Window Failed

Featured Replies

Hi all anyone had this one ? Just arrived home and put the drivers window up and there is such a bang ! Scared the crap out of me !

At least it’s closed and I don’t want to tempt fate with a window that’s stuck down especially with a holiday in a couple of weeks but I did try the up button again for a second and the motor is just whiring.

Sounds similar to this perhaps

Sounds like the bowden cables in the window regulator have snapped.  Had the same thing happen on my wife’s beetle recently, not a complicated job to fix but fiddly and the parts were quite expensive.  With no tension, the window started to drop slightly when driving about, so had to tape up until repaired.

Thanks guys yeah it does sound like that’s the prob.

I’ve fired an email off to book it into Rainworth hopefully before my hols in a couple of weeks !

Worth noting that when my driver's window went (see my topic linked above!), the passenger window regulator went a month or two later. Might be worth doing both while you're there perhaps?

They won’t be interested unless it’s actually failed.

Usual great service at Rainworth Sheffield car going in Thurs.

Update for future ref….

Fixed under warranty cost would have been £200 but don’t know if that’s all in or exclusive of vat and labour.

Either way a decent chunk out of my Warranty cost for this year.

Edit : Final non warranty price would have been £230-250

This happened to my wife's Fabia on the passenger side earlier this year & was fixed by local VAG specialist for £230.

Passenger side has now gone & she now has the all in one warranty so will it be covered by this?

If it’s the ŠKODA warranty I don’t see why not mine was.

The wife’s NSR failed on her 2003 Focus a couple ow weeks ago and the glass is being held-up with a bit of 32mm waste pipe until a new unit arrives and can be replaced. Ridiculously, Ford have not agreed it’s still under warranty, about which I’m absolutely fuming…

Totally unreasonable on a 2003 car don’t ford realise that any car looked after by a numbskull will be better than new mechanically ! ?? 😆

I know. It’s a bleedin’ liberty! I called the SMMT to lodge my complaint and they were extremely rude.
