oil coming out exhaust

Featured Replies

hi

   i have a 2019 octavia1.6tdi engine code DGTE.

it has engine oil coming out the exhaust and smoking vast quantities of grey smoke when it heats up.

i fitted a second hand turbo and it was the same

i checked the compressions they were low so i fitted new rings checked the valves and guides which were ok its still the same.

i fitted a brand new turbo and its still the same.

does anyone know if these heads are prone to cracking.

No idea. Still, I'm wondering more about worn piston rings and/or valve stem oil seals.

After fitting the rings have you checked the pressure again? Fitting new rings won’t do much if the cylinder tube is worn

There was no wear on the bores. I honed the bores with a carborundum tool.

The compressions were back up to 400psi.

Not something silly like residual oil in the exhaust?

How many miles have you driven after replacing all the bits?

Or is it pouring out?

There are a few  known  case's of cracked heads leading to water loss over time. I hope you haven't got a crack into an oil way.

Any reports of cracked heads with 1.6TDI,s on this forum where there are rather a lot of members with these engines in various models for over a decade now?

im thinking it a cracked oil gallery. uve ordered a replacement head now.

@eddytHow many miles has this engine done and how long have you owned it?

You have spent a fair amount on parts already without any success.

i cant ive dismantled it again

hi

i have been dismantling this engine again when i took the oil drain pipe off i looked in the hole on the block it was clear.

i put a pipe in the hole and blew through with my mouth and there was a bit of resistance so i blew it through with a air line

it cleared oil out through the hole for the feed in to the turbo. when i blew through with my mouth there was still resistance.

does anyone know if there should be resistance or should it be totally free.

         cheers eddy

If its the drain pipe from the turbo to the sump it must be clear of any obstruction. I have to say no experience of Skoda/ Vw turbos but all ive worked have a free flow back to the sump after lubricating the turbo bearings

What size diameter is it? Must be around the size of a straw.

Perhaps do a comparison between the two.
