Advice on buying a rear door for Greenline Estate 2012

Featured Replies

Hi folks. First post here. I bought a white Fabia Estate (the Greenline 1.1? Diesel. Or 1.2. you know the one anyway)

It would be a nice looking car if it wasn't for the dents. Looking to get them all sorted now. 2 on the bumpers will be easy enough but the nastiest looking one is on the rear passenger side door.

I'm looking at replacement doors online now but I'm a bit confused. Are the estate doors different to the non-estate? Are there different variations I should be looking out for? Or is it just a case of buying any 2012 Fabia door?

Thanks in advance :)

The hatchback and estate rear doors are completely different, hatchback is curved at the base of the C pillar, estate is not.

They look so utterly different that I'm uncertain how you can be confused between them unless you're visually impaired?

I had a quick look on eBay and didn't see anything about hatchback vs estate in any of the descriptions. I'm not visually impaired, I'm mentally impaired. Self diagnosed. But thanks for your help anyway. I tend to get in a bit of a panic when it comes to things like this, so it's easy for me to miss some obvious details.

Yes  there is a difference sadly a lot of sellers on the bay don't know which way is up, the front doors are the same but estate ones are longer and have like an extended  glass panel,  I did get a replacement rear door for my MKII estate from a car breakers, sorry can't remember who they were but e-mailed them and they sent me a mail when one came in they sent a few photo's and even had the same paint code that I supplied with the original mail, it cost me £80 at the time plus delivery of £35 it came well wrapped in bubble  but no glass, had to take glass out of mine and fit to this door some will also remove window winder lock etc , I rang them and did a small deal to leave the winder door handle and door lock on the door for an extra £20, like yourself I looked at loads on the bay but always seemed a bit to much damage or to much money for a different colour door, If I remenber the breakers I will post

Thanks Murdock. I'll keep all of that in mind. I wasn't sure if there were other variations of estates with slightly different doors. Never had a Skoda before. My windows are tinted so I would be looking to just reuse my old window anyway. Did you have any bother with getting a good match with the new door being slightly more or less faded?

I'll have a look at the breakers. Good to know I just have to find any white MK2 estate door. None of this 12 different variations nonsense I've had with other cars in the past

@ChrisTheTilerIs the door really that bad that it can not be made dent free and painted?  Maybe stick up a picture.

?

What is the paint code / colour of your car?

@tootit's badly scratched as well as caved in. I'll try and remember to get a pic tomorrow! The scratches are actually just beyond the door to the rear of the car too, so it's never going to look perfect, but it'll look a hell of a lot better with the door sorted.

I'll post a pic and the pain code tomorrow.

Cheers
