Well its happened the Front Drivers Side window regulator has given in. 

 

So the one big question is reapir or Replace what would ypou do or what have you dont.

I have to say I like the repair option its a little more fiddly but I dont have to pop the speaker off and re revit. 

Out of interest if you have had to do this job did you rerevit or do you use bolts?
 

Replace. It comes as one unit.
 

Had it happen to me recently. YouTubed what it would take to fit an aftermarket kit and decided to take it to a mechanic.

 

He advised using a genuine part as he said the kits often don’t fit very well in his experience. 

I replaced my driver's regulator a few years ago. Got a new.thord party replacement for £25 off eBay, refitted with self tappers as I couldn't get a rivet gun that worked at the time! Worked perfectly until I parked it up a year ago, and still worked perfectly when I saw it again for the first time since a couple of weeks ago!

In the end I replaced the complete unit. Its a fiddly job with the plastic dowls but well worth doing yourself.

 

I ended up riveting the pannel and speaker back in but if I was to do it again I would swap the pop rivet (blind Rivet) for a rivet nut and bolt allowing for easier removal next time.

I can’t recall as it was done at the same time as getting the front springs replaced and a service. 
 

But it was probably North of 200 including the part. You’ll have saved a ton of cash doing it yourself but it was too big a job for me.

And it took me a coiuple of hours to fiddle and fit but I went slow at my own pace.
