Chrome ring missing from heater knob

Featured Replies

Just noticed, looking at photos of my new car (hopeful of collecting it next Thursday) and I noticed that the left control knob of the ventilation seems to missing the chrome ring, although I never noticed this when viewing the car or when test-driving it, so the problem may have already been addressed. How difficult is this to fix? Can the knob be replaced on its own, or is it that the entire control or the panel has to be replaced?

I'm reluctant to flag this up to the dealer if it is something that I can do easily enough myself, as they have already brought several new parts, for the car that they noticed themselves while preparing the car for collection, i.e., new headlight unit, headlight washer cover plate, new rear light assembly to name a few bits they detected during their preparation process, so it might be that this has already been picked up and rectified?

I would flag this up to the dealer and get them to fix it. Shouldn't matter how much they've changed already it's missing simple as that.

Can’t be purchased separate. Only as a new unit

of course second hand any will do from a golf mk7, Passat or superb as you’re just taking the ring off, they can be had for as little as £25

whereas a new unit from the dealer is £650+

might give you room to haggle if they knock a few 100 off for you!!! Then just get a cheap one on eBay and fit it yourself

Isn't that going to appear as nit-picking, expecting a 2nd hand car to as good as new? It is functioning OK as far as I can recall.

All depends on how much youre paying for the car, where you are getting it from, and the rest of the cars condition.

If i was buying approved used for a premium price id expect this to be sorted.

Even if they dont sort it, there is 0 harm in trying, worst they say is no

Thing is, it being sold by a Skoda, just a car dealer who understands Skoda, and it isn't a premium price, but a fair price.

What's the problem with cream leather then? I like it, it makes the interior feel even bigger, more airy and inviting I think, black is just so drab and uninviting. Only issue the way I see is that it does need cleaning more often then black. In the summer, it also helps to keep the heat build up down if parked in the sun, whereas black just soaks up the heat.

My last Superb was also cream interior with cream leather.
