Coolant for mk3 fabia 2020?

Featured Replies

I've done a Google and searched here and I'm lost to find what coolant I need.

The tank doesn't have a g13 or g12 etc

Halfords doesn't show any.

This is a 1.0 monte Carlo auto

Just go to a Skoda dealer and buy from the parts counter. They'll give you the right one and it won't be megabucks I think.

Do you have a leak?

Not sure about a leak. Most likely, Car is a lease and goes back next week tbh.

Local dealer is 10 miles away and not local.

The advice on the coolant reservoir is to check the owner's handbook, though the only coolant that VW Group dealership parts department sell now is G12evo, they will probably sell 1 litre containers of premixed 50/50 under the part number  G12EVO50A2.

Just top it up with tap water then, doesn't look very low. Is it even below min?

Yes it's below min sadly.

In the angle of your photo the reservoir looks empty wot ain't not good.  VW fart about with what coolant they want at any particular time but may be on G12 Evo for 2020 and/or at the moment (unless they've changed their minds again).

IF the reservoir is below minimum or empty on a 2020/1 car, or any year, that's not good you need to find out why and get it sorted.

Sorry you've lost me with local dealer is 10 miles away and not local, if required I'd do a 20-mile round trip to get that sorted before it progresses to anything worse.

Thanks to all who took time to reply.

I meant to say the main dealer is over 10 miles away, so not local.

This has been a lease and is being collected June 2nd.

Even me with my low knowledge of cars knows that no coolant is not ideal and needs investigating.

i will let the lease company know upon collection.

I will get the coolant from SKODA ASAP :)

I'd not bother about telling the leasing company as I'd doubt if they will be sorting that out before moving that car on, its just an asset number no more, also, I'd think that 9 out of 10 dealers would leave sorting that out to the next owner's warranty cover even if it was pointed out to them.

Though absolutely do get the correct G12evo 50/50 premixed coolant into it - or someone might point out that you have not played your part in looking after it while under your control, ie cover your tracks.

Thing is how much are you going to use the car in the next week or so against how much coolant continues to disappear, if slow you can keep topping up but if quick it depends how quick and what it might lead to.  A coolant leak isn't good on any car but a 2020 car, 3 years old, is concerning.  Coolant loss is usually a leak to ground or through engine.  The days of needing to carry coolant (water) should be many decades back with old bangers or "vintage", "veteran" or old poorly maintained "classic" cars.

Keep topping up as required and keep an eye on the coolant gauge (if fitted) or oil temperature if not and check they don't go above what you normally see  For the sake of a week or so I'd nurse the car along not over stress i or get it too warm, thrifty driving without labouring.

Good luck.
