why strip it, just fit a new one.

Dave, that's why I said new gearbox. However, I think Skoda warranty will tell me to bugger off, like they did when my engine went bang :( Now, if a dead MAF had been diagnosed in the first place........

Dave,

If I PM you my reg number/chassis number, do want to try and put it through on warranty? Fault is that there is no syncro on 2nd gear.

I'll give you 3 to 1 they turn it down.

unfortunatly sounds as if your dealer didnt uderstand measuring value blocks.where he or she would have had live data for your mass air.....

Dave...

Advice on this one would be good...

My 14K mile Octavia vRS.. seems to have a problem or two....

I need to know if other Octavia vRS owners suffer the same problems

when travelling over roads with bumps in them ( 99% of UK roads ) at around 30-40mph .. It seems that there is something clonking from the front end of the car, as the car hits a 'bump' in the road the suspension reacts bit there is

sort of a loose clonk at the same time ,, like the wheel nuts are loose ( they aren't ) ?? It does'nt happen all the time though.

Also the rear of the car on these roads clonks and bangs .. This was not on the car only up until recently..It feels like the back doors are moving against the body....

I travel these roads daily...

Also there is play developing again in the Steering wheel,, rocking it left and right through the rest.. This has already been sorted once before ( steering column was replaced )...

Any ideas... Or does anyone else suffer this problem?

Second problem is with my Symphony Radio Cass unit that keeps displaying the

MECHANIC in the display, this is cleared by ejecting the CD magazine.. Dealer

has said it is a fault in the HU.. but they cannot replace it as SKODA warranty

has to prove there is indeed a fault before the unit is replaced, this means that

I would have to send it off for repair!! Strange but Seat and VW warranty never had this clause in them ..

cheers

Dazz

I will stand aside when a pro gives a proper answer to this one ;), but doesn't that sound like the anti-roll bar bushes?

Same here, mine does this, low speed say with a bot of lock over a speed bump...strangely enough going over a speed bump with a bit of pace they don't do it.

Ask dealer to drive same route (or mecahnic) reproduce statically by full lock and bouncing car on wing...might help, did for mine at least to get prob;lem looked at, which was basically striping down and lubricating them. Comes back every now and again.

Aren't you trying to sell your car Colin? :ignore:

first fault sounds like antiroll bar or bushes or link rods second problem symphony radio's are not repaired but replaced if you have the old grundig radio then they will be repaired but if you try sending a symphony of for repair radio repair shop will send it back and say see skoda warranty.
