I'm not interested in MPG, BUT!!!

Featured Replies

Sorry for going over old ground.I am not normally interested in MPG and when I read on these threads that people talk about how great their octavia VRS mk2 are at giving them over 30+ MPG i think someone is telling porkies, but having just returning home from a round trip Dublin to Cork,I checked the trip computer to find it reading 38.4 MPG i have to say i was very impressed. So sorry for not believing you all !!! But now i am back in Dublin ,back in traffic ,its back to 21 MPG.If i was that worried about MPG i would not be driving a 200BHP 2LT Turbo ,would I ?CHEERS!!!

It's not just me then getting 22 to 25mpg!. Done a round trip today though of over 200 miles and still only managed 27.8mpg, I must take off those lead soled shoes! :D

21 MPG in Dublin is not too bad. If you were travelling through Pearse Street heading to the city centre this morning you would have been lucky to get 10 MPG as it was backed up towards Sandymount until after 9.30. And now some lovely new road works and a widened Bus Lane taking up 2/3rds of the road at Pearse Street/Macken Street junction.

Try the Navan Road at rush hour! It sometimes takes ten minutes just to get out of the driveway!

I did not want to start a discussion on the state of the traffic in the greater Dublin area this would only upset everyone . But i am shocked at the difference between the MPG figures I achieved . The journey time from Dublin to Cork was 2.5 hours and the distance is 250kl and only 1 hour of this is done on motorway. Maybe the car company's could put more of the research funds into making the cars more economical in traffic because as was proved the cars MPG is very good on the move. This could state a case for electric in traffic and petrol on open road.CHEERS!!!

Averaging about 32 mpg 25/25/50 split motorway, fast A road, Traffic

ah, the quiet roads of aberdeenshire!! 35-37mpg according to maxidot.

the real test will be a fast blast to oxford for a weekend, then a few days touring scotland with the girlfriend.

will see what the mpg looks like then.......

I get about 28mpg around the S Yorks area, city, A & B roads, but went over to the east coast the other day, A roads & Motorway & got 38mpg! I don't bother with the trip computers figures, as it's a tad bit optimistic, (it reckoned 40+ ) just use the same garage, fill up to the second time the pump clicks off & do the maths!

Odd though, the last car I had didn't have a trip computer and I just didn't bother with the MPG, just filled up! This one I seem to have entered into a game, in trying to prove to my colleagues that a 200bhp car can be economic !

By the way, the worst I got was 11mpg after a "leisurely" potter around the Derbyshire Peaks:O !

I left Dublin early on the Saturday Daveclar . I wonder was it the lads going carting , not sure if they went Friday or Saturday. Where did you see them , mine is easy to spot (colour coded front bumper grill with s/s mesh) i must add a few more small changes to make it stand out even more.CHEERS!!!

I saw a chap stuck in traffic in Fermoy and I was staring at him as I drove by in a big white van and he looked back at me as if to say what the f**k are you lookin' at, ye know yourself, typical Dub:rolleyes:

I love pottering:rofl:

Just got back from a round trip, Sheffield to Newcastle and return via Whitby, Scarborough & Bridlington & the maths came to 36.5mpg :o. Guess I will have to start pottering again:D

Just back from the Donegal rally, I got 37Mpg on the journey back...32.5 on the way up, the Climate has a lot to answer for, and the clear roads
