Udder mod should be called "Oh bugger mod"

Featured Replies

The NSF udder has fallen out nearly completely 3 times, and fully last night, luckily saw it fly off on a B road and found it.

The reason, I think the rear front wishbone is quite worn, and the udders don't sit in tightly enough, in particular the NSF wouldnt even go in until I copper greased the bugger thorughly. I also had to get the car over a pit and really smack them in, I thought they would never fall out as it took nearly 30 minutes to get them in what I thought was properly, but to my suprise within 5 minutes they are very loose, the OSF does seem to be a lot better and mostly stays in place, but even that has moved a little.

Why "oh bugger" you ask, well....

it flew out mid corner and the steering suddenly lacked it's sharper/direct turn in. I had to do a mid-corner correction at a moderate->quick (not very quick mind) speed, this certainly made put a stain on my seats , and I think the Udder went under the rear NSR wheel to further unsettle things.

Has it been worth the £40? not for me no...It's been a pain in the a$$ to be completely honest and I wish i'd spent the money on getting the Cupra setup or put the money towards the rear ARB due to be fitted shortly

Anyway, just my 2 penth worth...

Chris.

Oh Chris

Sorry about that.

I would think it could be down to fitting them it possibly requiring a new bush to be fitted at the same time????

Sorry about that feel bad now

No probs Sarah, you weren't to know and neither was I.

No harm done, just £40 down the swannie :o;)

Hey Chris

Someone had to be first.

But I would think like I said , it possibly could be worth putting new bushes on to fit these uprated udders!!

Sarah

why replace the bush at the same time when you could just fit Cupra bushes and be done with it?

I know you arent the only one with loose udders... hence I didnt go that route. Cable ties are your friend, lol.

Still got my 'udders' and no fall-out - that said if they do start falling out it's probably time for the cupra ones :)

cable ties is my thinking next weekend (my stag weekend coming up :D). hopefully that should sort it out, either that or some epoxy.

How long are the standard vRS bushes supposed to last

My suspension is now making a knocking noise apparent mainly over speed bumps and the like, I wonder if the udders have speeded up the ageing of the bushes since A) it was hard to get them in - lots of hammering etc & had to open the bushes out a bit with a screwdriver to even get them in B) The udders are making the bushes work overtime?

Either way, I think some Cupra bushes are now in order, how much do they cost excluding fitting and can someone point me in the right direction regarding the part number(s) needed.

Thanks,

Chris.

The knocking noise maybe the drop links. I had a knocking sound. Dealer replaced the drop links. Solved.

Chris how many miles has your done. Mines on 40K

touching 40k too, will they replace the drop links under warranty though as the car has eibach 25mm springs.

Droplinks is a known "issue" for this platform so they shouldnt have a problem.

Not sure about the bushes themselfs tho...
