RNS510 Columbus Sat Nav - 5238 Firmware needed

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Does anyone know a working link to get an ISO of the 5238 firmware for my RNS510 , I now have the loop issue where it power cycles every 3-4mins (F@cking annoying), there are lots of dead links out there and plenty pirates selling CD's on FleaBay, but there must be an image to download??

If I reflash, does that also mean I would need to put maps back on?? If so, where are they also, I'm in North East UK

Help me Briskoda, you're my only hope!!

TIA

Steve

I found this one here.........I have downloaded and scanned it, seems to be ok (5328), but cannot vouch for quality of it.

On the flip side............Often links as you say are broken or are hosted on dodgy sites, sometimes you may just have to get the wallet out......

You "may" need new map update after this as well.

I tried multiple ISO images on CD-R CD-RW DVD+R discs and it gets to

"Software download - Valid SWL Image found, starting SWL"

and it just stays like that and goes no further, any ideas ??

TIA  Cheers

It is a while since I have updated my RNS510. You could try and download a file called SWL_fix or alternatively install a lower version than 5238 first.

It did take quite a while for the upgrade on mine though. My 6276 file was 500MB.

I used the SWL_fix to get out of that stuck screen, strange that I can't get it to work, shouldn't be that hard!!

I need a hammer and a condom, if I can't fix it with a hammer..**** it!!

The firmware works as I tried it in another RNS510, but the RNS510I have reboots every few mins or so, and it seems it does it when installing firmware, so it will never do it.

Is there way to install it via the serial port RS232? or even over the CAN bus??

I don't like giving in!!!

Cheers

Hey @SteveGee, did you manage to fix this? I tried adding maps and all went well and I got stuck at this screen for 30 minutes

"Software download - Valid SWL Image found, starting SWL"

Please tell me you got a fix

I am looking for a.copy if 5238 if anyone has one available? All sites I have tried are dodgy!!!!

Thanks
