Coding Questions

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've recently been learning into long coding with OBDeleven and I think i've gotten the hang of it. I was looking at the Carista's offers earlier on what that could modify, and found a few features I wasnt aware of. If anybody could let me know if the following are applicable and if so how to long code / adapt them thatd be grand.

Also, If anybody has a cheat sheet for all of the headlight adapation codes thatd be grand. For example, Leuchte12NL LB40 being Left Fog Lamp. I'd like to know the other lights in the car if poss!

Power steering default mode - Does this require driving profiles?
Throttle response behavior - Gradual or Direct. Any noticable differences, any advantages to either?
ESC / ASR - Seems to be a Sports mode for ESC??
Start screen logo (instrument cluster) - Presumably in Dashboard, But which byte and bits?
Driving School Mode - Have tried to code before using instructions on here but to no success. Any other methods?
Pace Car Turn Signals - I've been wanting to try this for a while, But the OBD 1 Click app threw up errors for all my bulbs...
Cornering Lights - I have this enabled, But it will also enable the fog light with my indicator on. How can I disable the indicator from toggling it?

Any help with any of these above would be absolutely grand.

Thanks in advance,

Lewis

Power steering and throttle response I'm not sure about for the Fabia.

ASR is your traction control. ASR off means you can have wheel slip but ESC will still kick in as normal. ESC Sport is ASR off with ESC intervention cut back so the car can rotate a bit before it will kick in. ESC off is no assists at all, if you drop it in a bend nothing will kick in.

I think there are two menus you can have which are

On | ASR off | ESC Sport

and

On | ESC Sport | ESC Off

Start screen logo is on the infotainment screen as for which bit I'm not sure.

Driving school mode I think is an extra display on the infotainment screen, not sure what it displays or what else it does.

I don't think pace car turn signals will work on the Fabia as it only has 2 rear indicators whereas the likes of the mk7 golf has 4, 2 on the hatch 2 on the body. The pace car signals has the indicator alternate between the indicators on the body and boot hatch.

Cornering lights, the foglight coming on with the indicator is intended functionality so I don't think it can be turned off.

I used these lists of adaptations for reference some worked some didn't. The adaptations will not line up 100% bulb IDs and channel IDs will differ so I used them more to point me in the right direction.

Take a backup of your adaptation map and coding and note down what changes you made and what the default values were so you can revert without issue.

If you're wanting to change halogen bulbs for LED's I made a list of the bulb locations and their associated ID. It's from a Polo so double check your bulb ID's. The indicator ID's line up so I'm 99% sure the rest will.

Hope that all helps :)

That’s brilliant - Thanks for all of that!

With the Pace signals I was more thinking of flashing between the rear indicator and the rear brake light or running light (was going to see if it looks better on either or)

As for the cornering lights, It used to work without the indicators until I had my car coded at a garage for cruise control & it wiped everything. Interestingly, The left fog light comes on with the left indicator, but the right fog light does not come on with the right indicator. I haven’t noticed any differences in the fog light codings though!

Going to mess around with throttle response and steering today and see if it makes any changes.

Thank you

This was the coding I used for cornering fogs, have a look through all the values for Leutche12 and 13 as they are the front fogs. There might be a way for them not to come on with the indicators, if I had to guess it will be one of the dimming options. I'm not sure how OBDEleven and Carista work but with VCDS you can backup your adap map as a CSV which you can open in excel or google sheets which makes browsing the channels much easier.

This is the adaptations I have for my front fogs. They have cornering fogs and come on with full beam but not when flashing. So on with stalk pushed forward but not when pulled back.

Strange, Mine seems to be the same but with the addidition of fogs with headlight flasher - which I put there.

I cannot figure out why only one side indicator enables the fog and the other doesnt, both sides seem identical?

Also, I tried the steering and throttle options. Throttle I havent noticed much difference except a bit responsive maybe - possibly just placebo effect though? Will update on my motorway drive tommorow as should be noticable there. As for steering, Dynamic did make the wheel heavier and sportier, which i like!
