Front Mudflaps

Featured Replies

The latest Karoq Accessory Brochure states the part number for front mudflaps is:

57A 075 111 for cars WITH plastic wheel arch extensions

57A 075 111(A) for cars WITHOUT plastic wheel arch extensions

Have a look at the photos, can you spot the difference, I certainly cannot. I have measured the best I can and both mudflaps are exactly the same size as far as I can tell, both front and back. The fixing holes are in the same location, even the lug is the same size and in exactly the same position (photo angle is a bit misleading showing lugs at a different angle, but they are exactly the same). I have even offered both mudflaps up to the front wing and the moulding is the same on both.

Why then do Skoda advise different part numbers?

It’s the angle of the camera, I can assure you that they are both the same. I have the plastic trims on my car and I offered both types of mudflaps up to the car and the profile matched exactly on both.

They certainly shouldn't be the same or they wouldn't look flush.

The plastic wheel arch sits slightly proud of the bodywork - basically it's a thin piece of plastic which is held on by double sided sticky tape mounted on to the body work.

So where the mudflap meets the bottom of the arch, you're obviously going to require two different flaps for it to look flush - one that's flush with the body work and another that has to take into account the thickness of the trim. We're only talking a few millimeters though.

You certainly wouldn't be able to see the difference in thickness from any of those photos as they're lying flat down. You need to rotate then 90 degrees so they're standing up.

I had to replace the wheel arch trim on a Seat Ateca and I can assure you the SEAT flaps are different because the parts dept. ordered up the wrong ones.

I’m afraid I cannot check the thickness of the two sets of mudflaps as I have returned one set for a refund, but when examining them I couldn’t see any difference.

That said, if you look at the Karoq accessory brochure you will see that the mudflaps are designed to stop short of the wheelarch trim, obviating the need for them to sit flush.

Take a look at rear 3/4 view of say a Sportline model vs Scout and you'll see the scout bumper sits slightly proud hence the need for a different size mudflap. We're only talking millimeters but I couldn't get the screw holes to line up on the Ateca, that's how I discovered the parts dept had ordered the wrong flaps for my car.

All I can say is that on my SEL both sets of front mudflaps fit with the centre securing hole aligning correctly (the other two fixing holes you have to drill yourself). Not sure about other variants, perhaps they are different, however the brochure would suggest that the front mudflaps fit all variants?
