Sachs Performance clutch

Featured Replies

Hi 👋

I need to replace the clutch, and I'm wondering if it's worth using a Sachs Performance upgrade instead of standard Sachs clutch kit for my Octavia 1.5 TSI.

I had to contact Sachs because for some reason (they didn't specify) they don't have a ready-kit for the Octavia 1.5 TSI. Instead, it needs to be custom-made. It's based off the standard "3000 970 130" Sachs clutch kit, but modified for increased 15% performance. 1-1 compatibility, no need for flywheel replacement. The price they gave me is 370EUR + VAT (about twice the standard "3000 970 130" Sachs clutch kit).

My car is currently not remapped, although I'm no discarding doing Stage 1 in the future.

I'd appreciate any opinions on the subject.

Thanks!

What does 15% performance increase mean?

Clamping strength? Surface area? Coefficient of friction? Torque transfer ability?

There are a lot of things this could cover and in all fairness, a ‘stage 1’ probably won’t require a performance clutch but it depends on what kind of power increases you would get and also depend on how heavy footed you are or want to be from a standstill, once you’re moving a performance clutch is hardly going to make any difference

Thanks for answer.

This is what they wrote:

The clutch disc will get a new special organic friction material. Thanks to this type of modification, the torque transmitted is about 15% higher, combined with excellent durability and service life.

I don't know about the torque increase, but if it's something which truly increases the durability, perhaps it's worth it.

On the other hand, there also possibility this is just some marketing BS.

That is the reason why I'm looking for recommendation from other users with more experience than myself.

Thanks
