Do the vRS TDI models (facelift and before) have a limited slip differential?

Featured Replies

I know that the TSI powered vRS models have the electronic VAQ diffs in them, but I haven't found a single peep on whether or not the diesel models have it.

I haven't had a chance to test it out in a way to see if it has a VAQ diff either, or if its one tire fire all the way.

Welcome.

No VAQ so that means no need to have a VAQ service.

I see.

Guess it's down to the traction control to sort it out when flooring it out of a turn.

On a somewhat related note, would you happen to know if these TDI models come with XDS, or is that again a TSI vRS only option?

Thank you for the help!

All models should get XDS - it's a function of the ABS module which requires no additional hardware. At least based on the UK Nov 2017 brochure I have which lists XDS against the base S model.

The VAQ is only fitted to higher output engines and VAG believe the TDi vRS at 184p, it isn't sufficiently powerful enough to require one :)

I'm pretty sure even the Golf GTi only got a VAQ as part of the optional performance pack.

& as well as XDS there is some with XDS+.

(Mk2 Fabia vRS Twincharger / Polo GTI Twincharger has XDS,  Polo GTI 1.8 TSI got XDS+)
