Has anyone been hearing an annoying buzzing sounds coming from the dashboard area in your Skoda Octavia VRS 2022 MODEL, while driving in the normal and sports mode?

Featured Replies

This buzzing sounds keeps coming when you accelerate and the RPM is about 1500. It disappears when you switch off the engine sound in Individual mode.

Is this a software issue by any chance? Any thoughts from fellow Skoda lovers :)

Hi Sajan,

Your issue is coming from the central speaker (2):

From factory it was not properly fixed, so under certain circumstances it moves on its housing and it does that particular noise. It's an easy thing to be fixed, just remove the speaker panel carefully and remove, clean surfaces and install again the central speaker.

Yes I`m having the same issue for sometime now and it`s driving me crazy. Had my car at the dealer 3 times for that and they did not fix a thing. Going to try to do that myself - thanks for the tip Mario.

Hi Mario, Thank you very much for your advise and the possible solution. Much appreciated!
So this doesn't look like a DIY job and I am guessing the service team in my region will have to remove the dashboard to fix this, right? The only concern I have is, mine being a brand new car, if the service center guys in my region try dismantling the dashboard and check this issue (hopefully find a resolution) will they be able to fix it back just as how it was done in the factory. Your thoughts?

Well, in my case they were able to fix it but considering the comment from @GregB11x  I would not bet a finger. Your car is under warranty so your position should be clear, you check with the dealer and they are supposed to fix it without any cost.

The dealer has confirmed that there would not be any cost but the only concern I have is dismantling something that is fixed in the factory might not be perfectly fixed back, especially if the team is not highly experienced.  Now having said that, removing the center console speaker cover and accessing these speakers seems to be an easy straight forward job without touching the dashboard. Hence I might try getting this done and see if I can get ride of this noise for good. Shall keep you posted.

Give it a try, you lose nothing. If they are not able to solve it now you have the option of the full deactivation. Even if mine was properly fixed, once the possibility of deactivation was one the market I went for it, and I do not regret it since day one

Yes, exactly. By the way can you let me know where you got that image you shared from, That was really helpful and it looked precise. By any chance would you have links to any manuals or reference videos for this suggested fix?

VERY interested in this, always wondered what that perforated panel is for. I have a rattle between 1900 to 2100 RPM, does it in any mode so maybe it's a speaker just not secured properly.

Screenshot is coming from the official maintenance manual that you can find in ErWin (https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/erwin/showHome.do). With your VIN there you will find all that you need for your car in terms of maintenance and general TPIs. In top of ErWin, you can use as well Partslink24 (https://www.partslink24.com/partslink24/user/login.do) to search for replacement parts. Unfortunately, both are pay per use.

And for @Dooge under that perforated panel you have 2 speakers, one for the soundaktor and the other for the SOS assistance.

I that really what is in there? I thought it was the single centre speaker of the audio infotainment system, i.e. radio, Android Auto etc.

The sound certainly seems to come from there.

I was surprised that I had two speakers under the grille, according to your diagram, but I supposed they might still carry the left and right channels of the audio.

Well, I do not know which is your audio setup, but if it's like mine, without canton and car manufactured from November 2020, I do confirm that, as per wiring diagram, those two speakers are not carrying signal from the center unit.

Mine is the Canton unit.

Mines a 2015 VRS, I will try and pop the cover off at some point. Reckon there is still a speaker there?

Hi Mario and rest of those who have following this post...

So this morning I managed to go to the service center, remove the speaker from the central panel and do a test drive. The buzzing annoying sound was still there while driving in the Normal and Sports mode. Though the service center guys says they might have to remove the dashboard to check further, I did not agree with this approach as I was not comfortable doing this for my new car. Now this is where the twist comes...

This sensible  technician guy said, he wanted to check one last thing and see if that can be a fix. And guess what... his experience and intuition worked and the sound is now gone!!! What a relief.

So the issue seemed to be coming from the outside Cowl top and he checked the Borne Sound Actuator area - I believe he aligned those wires, tightened the screws there, and fixed them properly, maybe even put a double side tape to ensure all loose wires stays intact.

Did a test drive now and that annoying sound is not there anymore. I am going to continue checking this and monitor for any sounds and see if it's all good.

Thank you for pointing me in this direction and guiding me with your advise. Much appreciated fellow Skoda lover :)

Great ! very good news 🙂, now we know from where it's really coming from, thanks to share your experience with the rest. My god, they wanted to remove the dashboard just for that intervention ... no words !

@SAJANthis is the area under the plastic cover which is under the wipers?

  • Author

@TheUltraRunner- Exactly! That’s the sweet spot. Are you also facing this issue?

Similar, yes. Not sure if it comes from the plastic cover around the rear mirror and the lights or somewhere else. It could also be coming from the area you described. I guess I need to check both.

I've got an annoying rattle and vibration when the fake engine noise is there.  I checked the speakers on the dash, only to find there is only one speaker, speaker no2 as per the diagram is not there.  So still don't know where the rattle is coming from, or why I only have 1 speaker there!

Exactly where is the speaker for the sound actuator if it isn't in the dash as per the OP?

Sound actuator is not a speaker. The sound is produced through vibrations through the front glass. And it is placed under the plastic cover under the front wipers.

Ok I think I found it, just have to figure out where the vibrations and rattling are coming from inside the car.

I also need to check this and try to eliminate the vibrations. Maybe try to reassemble it? Or if there are any loose wires that can rattle against the metal, etc
