Tyres again

Featured Replies

Apologies if I’ve missed this in my search of the forum…

The Nankook Venus Prime tyres my 1.4 Octavia came to me shod with are very noisy on many road surfaces, moreso even than Mrs B’s Nissan.

Any first-hand recommendations for quieter tyres? (Standard 17” wheels)

Thanks in advance

I normally use all-season tyres, as they have a lot more grip than summer tyres below about 7 degrees Centigrade.

However, if you want summer touring tyres then Michelin Primacy 4+ work quite well above about 7 degrees Centigrade.

I fitted Michelin crossclimate 2s for a variety of reasons and have found them to be reasonably quiet compared to the energy saver tyres. Not a scientific assessment as the old tyres were near their limit.

Just installed 225/45R17 Sailun Atrezzo ZSR2 94Y (on 7" wide rims) and those are super quiet and comfortable.

Ok, have driven only 88km / only on dry / not sporty- but 1st impressions are good.

First set of cheap PRC tires in my life- let's see how quickly they'll worn out.
Balanced ideally, 30g, 15g, 45g, 35g per tire. New rims.

BTW, my friend have driven 225/45R17 Hankook VentusPrime3 and S1 Evo(2or3) per years and never said that those are noisy. But he have Seat Exeo.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6. I've been using Eagle F1's since before they were asymmetric. I don't / won't buy anything else. Excellent grip, relatively quiet, wear well and work surprisingly well down to really cold temps (I've driven a BMW 330i in slushy snow on them with no problems).

+1 for the Hankook Ventus Prime 3 - I was very pleased with them. Now driving Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance 2 and I regret..

I plan to buy Hankook Kinergy 4S2 for my wife’s car which is driven mainly in the city where we rarely have snowy roads.
