Boot randomly opens and closes

Featured Replies

I have a 23 vRS and the boot opens/closes randomly and sometimes while I'm still getting stuff out of the boot.  It has been in the garage and a mechanic also experienced it.   They had it for a day and can't find any issue.

It has nothing to do with where the key is etc as it does this when the key is just left on the side and happens with both keys.  The boot close on the key fob also works sometimes, sometimes not.

Anyone had this issue and also been fobbed off by Skoda?

Thanks but I know what that is.  My issue is me stood several feet away from the boot and it opening or closing on its own with no key.  This is a fault as witnessed by a Skoda mechanic, I just need to know if anyone else has seen it.  The Skoda garage have no ideas after dealing with Skoda HQ.

I've had this happen but it turns out the cat was moving under the rear of the car as I approached it.

Was your cat at the Skoda garage, and at the supermarket and at the football and everywhere else where the boot randomly opened?

You could try turning it off in infotainment anyway. If it stops doing it, it might point towards the issue being a faulty sensor.

My guess is that's a dodgy switch for the boot or on the remote...   Maybe wter ingress or similar?

I'll mention the switch to the dealer, but I hoped they would try to sort it out.  I'm calling them again for the 3rd time.

perhaps the virtual pedal is damaged and shorting. How far away is the key from the boot?

Key could be several metres away when it opens, or sometimes next to the car and the boot starts closing with us still reaching in the boot.  It is very random.
