Fuel Pump running while car turned off

Featured Replies

Hi guys

new to the forum :)

fuel pump running whilst car turned off, (is it under the seat?) hear the sound coming from under back seat.

battery dead flat because of it!

so we pulled the fuel pump relay 646 and replaced it with a new one. (No luck) still going.

pulled the fuse to the pump and it stops, so somehow there is an alternate power source or short circuit.

Anyone have any ideas! would be greatly appreciated.

Paul

Welcome.

No idea if your car is like some other Skoda in that the fuel primes when you open the drivers door if the car sits a while.

Is there maybe a Door Loom issue?

No, never use to do it, everything else is fine electrical within the car

Are you sure, just because you were not aware of the pump priming when you opened the drivers door does not mean your car did not do that.

Just a suggestion.    You have checked stuff and are asking here, well you have more checking to do.

yeah got checking to do, well, its going to my mechanic, but thanks toot for your help

Trace the relay to fuse and relay to fuel pump connections.  Are you sure you got the right relay location?. Did the pump stop with the relay removed for example.  If its a diesel the priming routine is off the ignition key, rather than door open, so could be a problem there.

hi

mine is a petrol 2.0 tsi 147kw.

yeah, replaced the relay (646) found behind the thick loom, on mine it is separate to the other relays (it is by itself).

as soon as the 15amp blue fuse was out the fuel pump/prime stopped running,

essentially the relay I had was fine.

I tend to believe there could be another relay associated with the function of the fuel/primer pump besides the one mentioned above.

any help appreciated.

Cheers.

Why not having it scanned for any codes to see if anything has arised?

I believe it'll throw  some light in right direction.
