Reversing camera screen blocked by startup

Featured Replies

On start up, and putting in reverse, I cannot see the reverse camera picture, as the screen is obscured by clock, driver I.D. Screen and one of those repetitive messages. Until they clear, I have to use mirrors to reverse out of garage. Only happens on cold start up, and not repeated again during the day. May be a trip back to dealer at 200 miles from new.☹️

My shonky Chinese head unit does that, I have just learned to live with it, I can sometimes overcome it but if I am shunting backwards and forwards I lose the reverse camera again on the second reverse, it also loses the image when the Shatnav finally does its booting up thing but selecting reverse again overcomes that.

It probably only does occur on start up but probably 95% of the time I use reverse gear is after start up, I reverse out of ùy property every journey, I rarely have to do a U turn, if I park I will have to reverse out when I return to the car.

I suppose I could reverse into every parking space while the camera is working but having a RHD car in a LHD country parking in the same direction as the other vehicles is preferable, I can leave a bigger gap for my drivers door without inconveniencing the driver parked beside me, our drivers doors will be side by side, the narrower gap the other side will be the passengers door for the other vehicle.

Could always wait a few minutes?

I find what can occasionally be equally annoying where I am looking at the map in AA and I pop it in R and the map dissapears with the rear camera view when I was still looking to check the route just before reversing up my drive. Takes me a few seconds to fiddle about to get AA back. Then a remonstration to myself to finish looking at the route before moving the selector.

Ahhh 1st world problems..........

That could be deactivated with adaptation/coding so you have to press the button for park assist
