Silver Roof Rails Discolouration

Featured Replies

Pretty much from day one I've had that kind of oxidised mottled white look on the roof bars. I've never used dodgy stuff to clean the car so unless it was done on the PDI I've no idea what has caused it. I suspect I'm not alone ....

I've pretty much tried everything to get rid including stuff like Solvol on a small section but to no avail.

Has anyone had any luck with anything or is it just an inherent quirk of the material ?

I think that's the answer. These milky spots may also appear on trims surrounding windows...

Yeah on mine might get my Humbrol Matt Black out 😆

I have used WD40 on mine for a number of years, it seems to have maintained the silver/chrome look to good effect. Unless I have just been lucky of course.

I've tried many products, but never really got rid of those milky spots...

Lucky you if WD40 worked!

Alternatively you could have it wrapped. Thinking about old Max Power days when people had their window surrounds to look like carbon fibre, and plenty of "chrome delete" options but there might be a more OE look on offer
