Apologies, I seem to have lost track of the conversation here and thought you had gone for one of these tyres with a maximum speed limit of 50mph, which is a real pain if you have to drive any distance outside town.

All well and good until you decide to go on that driving trip abroad or even drive 200 miles down south on a Bank Holiday weekend.

Oh dear only 200miles     Try on our west coast from Broome  to Port Hedland a bit over 600km and only  roadhouse with petrol halfway on the whole trip.   We have cattle stations with a driveway that says   Station House 72kms and are probably half the size of Great Britain as are measured in hundreds of Sq Km  never mind acres.

Is the specification 6Jx16 ET35 5/100 57.1 such as the Alcar 6664 listed on mytyres, oponeo, and autodoc?

If so, then go for a 205/60R16 if it will fit in the spare wheel well. If it's a bit too wide, then go for 195/60R16.

205/60R16 is a cheaper and more common tyre size than 195/60R16.

No, not one of those. I thought the same, Having to stick to 50mph especially if on a motorway, Not ideal, That's why i didn't go for a space saver either..

Just a little update. Bought one of the steel wheels that Carlston put me onto (links above).. Was a little unsure about what size tyre to put on after reading that space is a bit limited in the wheel well, But went with a 205/60R16 tyre and it fits perfectly. Thanks to everyone who helped me out..
